11 Most Popular Women’s Pubic Hair Styles & How To Do Them

Pubic Hair Styles are a taboo topic. For some people, it’s important to have complete confidence in your hair down there and know your partner won’t run for the hills when they see it. However, since pubic hair is rarely discussed, I only knew about my own preferences because I can’t exactly walk up to all varieties of women and go, “Hey, what does your pubic hair look like?”

Online, however, was a bit of a different story. I polled almost 300 Western women who are cis-gendered, non-binary, and transgender—and about two dozen Western men— Pubic Hair Styles – about women’s pubic hairstyles. I wanted to get a full picture of the popularity of various pubic hairstyles among college students, and a full picture I got. So, here are 10 hairstyles for your downstairs ‘do to give a more varied selection than your classic bush v. Brazilian.

1. The Martini Glass

For upon | The Martini Glass is a Bermuda Triangle combined with a Landing Strip. While this wasn’t as popular of an option amongst the women, it’s really easy to shape and is just the thing to spice things up for a special night. Simply shave, trim, or wax the top and sides all the way down.

You should naturally have a triangle shape but now make it way smaller as you shave the bottom into a thin line, ending just before your clitoris. Adjust and reshape the top to make it look like a martini glass. This combo of two favorite styles is sure to turn heads and make your lover hella thirsty.

2. The Bermuda Triangle

This look is a common go-to for a lot of women: 10.6% of respondents rock this ‘do! Not only is it easy to shape and maintain, but it’s a common style at waxing salons, making it easy to get anywhere you go. The gist is that this triangle will keep your bikini line clean while your bathing suit or panties cover the mini bush below.

Fourth-year Michelle* hates shaving down there. “I really only trim things if I’m going to be wearing a bathing suit,” she says. While she usually rocks a Bush, the Bermuda Triangle could be a good idea for those situations; just trim the sides, grrl!

On top of that, 5.1% prefer this look on a partner. To get your own Bermuda Triangle, remove the hair on the top and sides, and emphasize the natural triangular curve of your mon’s pubis. Trim it as far down as you would like, leaving enough hair to make up your triangle. You can be sure your partner will get lost down there for days!

3. The Five O’Clock Shadow

The Five O’Clock Shadow is pretty much what it sounds like stubble from the last time you shaved or trimmed. However, this style turns 16.7% of heads with its simplicity and non-itchiness; it’s easiest to just trim it down to avoid the itchiness of growing hair.

“If I could have an ingrown hair-free vagina I’d do Brazilian, but I’m too lazy and it’s too uncomfortable,” said first-year Zoe.

9.6% of respondents prefer this look on their sexual partners, another reason being the hair doesn’t rub painfully during sex. Turns out, the Five O’Clock Shadow is just as sexy on a lady’s Vijay as it is on a man’s face!

4. The Landing Strip

The Landing Strip, made popular by Playboy models who wore a lot of itty bitty undies, is a strip down the center of your mon’s pubis. It’s sort of like a trail leading your partner down where you want them to be—like a lady’s happy trail. This look is rocked by a lot of pornstars and is favored by 2.9% of women, so don’t worry about your partner loving this one: they will.

5. The Brazilian

The Brazilian means you go all bare, all over. From the belly button to the tip-top of that butt crack, there is not going to be a single hair in sight. This style is by far the most popular, with 43.1% of respondents rocking this smooth look.

For some women, having a Brazilian is more about feeling than a look.

“I don’t mind the look of ‘hair down there’ on me; I actually think it looks mature and sexy. That being said, I prefer the feeling of being hairless (especially waxed) because I sometimes find hair itchy or uncomfortable,” said fourth-year student Taylor.

However, there is a lot of pressure for women to be hairless, which causes many women to shave even if they don’t want to. It can be easy to forget that your pubic hair should look how you want it to look, not how your sexual partner demands.

6. The Silver Fox

Now, these silvery locks are a rare look among younger college students, but we can’t forget about our gorgeous mature students! Rather than shaving off or dyeing your greying or grey hairs, embrace the grey and know that you, too, can age with sexy grace—whoever said grey hair can is only sexy on men!?

7. The Bush

11.6% of respondents love their Bush and don’t want to go through the hassle of styling, so let their locks go au naturally. More power to you! The hair around your vagina is there for a reason, so leaving it where it is is likely the best idea when it comes to your health. Plus, you won’t have to deal with ingrown hairs, razor burns, or itchy regrowing hair. Who has time to shave, anyway? Embrace the jungle; there’s just so much more to explore!

8. The Punk Rocker

Ready for a real challenge? Have wild hair up top and want the curtains to match the drapes? Be super careful, but you can dye and style your hair to look how you want.

Third-year student Alexa* says she upkeeps her cooch by using “hair gel, mousse, shampoo, conditioner, and hair spray.” While this will give you a rocking down-there ‘do, make sure the products you select are safe to be so close to such a sensitive area.

Due to the upkeep and sensitive skin in that area, this style isn’t very popular, but could be a fun way to bring a little more color to the bedroom!

9. The Postage Stamp

The Postage Stamp is a small, groomed square just above your clitoris—it’s the shape and size of a postage stamp, hence its name. This is a great way of keeping a tiny bit of hair so you aren’t totally bare, but also not having the hassle of working out a cool way to care for your pubic hair.

“I think it looks super cute,” says fourth-year Carrie*. “I like the look of having some hair, but not too much. At the same time, it isn’t too little. It’s a happy medium and isn’t just your basic Bermuda Triangle.”

To sculpt your own, simply remove the majority of the top and the sides and a tiny bit from the bottom, and you’re good to go!

10. The Arrow

Now, this one is fun! While it tells your lover exactly where they are meant to be going without the need for verbal cues (though, you know, consent is necessary to get first!), it’s unusual and always a surprise. It’s also easy to convert into a Postage Stamp or Landing Strip if you tire of it but don’t want to shave everything off.

Bonus: The Baby Braid

Okay, okay, the list couldn’t be complete without a TOTALLY POSSIBLE baby braid. This might take some practice, but people expressed a lot of interest in them. Let it grow, let it flow, then braid that bad boy up and put in a tiny hair elastic! Note: This will be easiest with the sides shaved!

When it comes to your pubic hair, though, don’t fret about what other people think: over 50% of people think that is totally your own business and have no preference. The most common request was that whatever style you go for, you keep it clean! Now that can’t be too hard, especially not with a wide range of gentle, fragrance-free, or pH-balanced soaps to choose from.

No matter what you do down there, just remember to love your cute cooch! And when it comes to shapes, don’t limit yourself. From lightning bolts to diamonds, Western women are rocking all kinds of cool shapes down there, and you can too!

The Most Popular Pubic Hair Styles, According to Waxers

To go bare, bushy, or something in between has been a personal decision women have weighed since the 1980s when pubic hairstyles became a thing. But in this particular moment in history, women are becoming aware and outraged over unreasonable beauty standards more than ever before. In a time when even our president is a menace to gender equality, women are increasingly on guard when it comes to other people trying to control their bodies. Scores of people who didn’t think much about gender five years ago are now proudly identifying as feminists.

There’s no denying it: right now is a time of revolt

Half a dozen female celebrities shaved their heads at one point, conveying a message that I interpreted to mean, “I no longer accept your expectations of femininity.” There’s no denying it: right now is a time of revolt. You’d think the revolution would have to make its way down to our bikini lines, too—right? To get to the bottom of pubic hair trends, I spoke with Katie Slanina, esthetician and owner of Skintuition in Southern California; Christian Karavolas, laser specialist and owner of Romeo & Juliette Laser Hair Removal Spa in New York City; and Pamela Jeschonek, esthetician and owner of Everyday Esthetics outside of Pittsburgh—people who observe how real women shape their bikini lines every day.

Below, see what our experts said are the most popular pubic hair designs women are sporting today.

The Evolution of Pubic Hair

It follows that because people are wearing their feminism as boldly as they are right now, we would want to keep the message going by rejecting the Brazilian waxes that the porn industry taught us we need. It seems, though, that as angry and rebellious as women are right now, not many people seem to want to bring back the full bush. Of course, an outright rejection of any kind of pubic hair grooming isn’t right either—the point is that you’re not supposed to feel pressured as to what to do with your body hair.

Pressure to grow it out for fear of being labeled a “bad feminist” is a real thing too, and some people genuinely don’t like the way pubic hair feels.

Still, I’m stuck on the question: How are women really grooming their bikini lines at this exact moment? Are women annihilating their hair just as much as they did 15 years ago, or has there been an actual change? According to our experts, grooming trends seem to vary depending on age and geographic location. As it turns out, there is no straight answer to my question.

Brazilian Style

Going bare is an option for many. “Over the years, there have been many trends, from a Playboy strip to completely bald,” says Slanina. But today most of her clients still prefer to wax it all off, save for new moms who generally like to leave a little something for coverage. “I still see anywhere from 20 to 40 clients daily for Brazilian waxing,” she says.

What Is a Brazilian Wax?

Unlike a bikini wax (which removes pubic hair along the sides and top area), a Brazilian wax involves removing all pubic hair.

Thin Strip

Many women are opting to remove some or the majority of their pubic hair via laser hair removal. Some industry insiders say that laser hair removal is on the rise, as it’s a more convenient method for women who don’t have the time or the tolerance for waxing. “We are seeing more and more women give up Brazilian waxes because it’s causing them irritation and ingrown hairs,” explains Karavolas. “Also, waxing is not permanent, and it can be a time-consuming process.”

What Is Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is a method that uses concentrated laser light to destroy the hair follicle and prevent it from growing back over time.

Natural Growth

Meanwhile, Jeschonek maintains that she’s seeing a growing number of women go the natural route. In contrast to the bikini-clad Angelenos and the big-city New Yorkers, her Pennsylvania clients are “over” the bare look. “Some ladies seem to age out of the style because they have kids and jobs, and it becomes less of a priority,” she says.

“But younger women are preferring a fuller look to keep in line with their more natural, active, organic lifestyles.” She adds that “Most women do like to keep the hair trimmed and out of sight when wearing a bathing suit. But for now, it looks like bigger is better may be making a comeback.”

Do What Feels Best

Personally, I haven’t gotten a Brazilian wax in two years. And I state that with pride. (I also just want to quickly mention that I’ve been in a relationship for seven years, but I’m positive that if that weren’t the case, I’d keep the pubes. I’ve never encountered a sexual partner who was picky about my nether regions—plus, if they never get used to seeing you waxed, then they’ll never expect it. But I digress).

At the end of the day, there’s no particular right or wrong way to handle pubic hair. It’s a personal decision, and every woman should do whatever feels best for her. I do feel hopeful that the feminist revolution will find its way into our pubes soon enough.

No matter the pubic hairstyle you choose, there is a slew of products that can be used in the bikini line area.

6 Pubic Hair Styles For Women

If you grew up in the nineties or noughties, then you probably started shaving your pubic hair as soon as you started secondary school. In a world where it seemed like the only acceptable female body was fat-free and hairless, it’s no wonder that the idea of a rogue curly hair sprouting from underneath our swimwear sent shivers down our spines.

But times are changing and when it comes to beauty and sex, there’s a new mood in the air – it’s no longer about conforming, and ladies’ pubic hairstyles are no exception. It’s all about body positivity and doing whatever the hell you like with your own body parts. This means that owning and loving your perfectly imperfect body is back in. Essentially, the days of pubic hair shaming are officially over.

If you want to wax, wax away. And, if you feel super sexy when you’re at your most natural, then embrace that feeling. Bush or bald, whichever way you choose to go, here are six pubic hairstyles for women:

Top 6 vagina hairstyles:

  • The Hollywood
  • The Brazilian Wax
  • The Landing Strip
  • The Bermuda Triangle
  • The Big Bush
  • The Vejazzle

1. The Hollywood

Also known as The Sphinx, this is ‘The Queen’ of all waxes. A Hollywood wax is not recommended for a wax virgin as it involves removing all the pubic hair around the pubis and anal area to leave behind a completely blank canvas.

Rumour has it, the treatment was first offered in a New York salon set up by seven Brazilian sisters in the early 1990s. Some women love the way having no hair down there feels and say that it increases sensitivity and can make oral sex feel better.

2. The Brazilian Wax

The widely popular Brazilian wax is like a Hollywood, but with a little bit of hair left at the front of the pubic mound. Pubic hair is waxed into a thin strip or small triangle and removed from two to three finger widths above the vulva. Hair from the peri-anal area and labia are also removed. This is a good option if you want something in the middle, as it keeps some of your natural hair but maintains the order.

3. The Landing Strip

There are lots of names for this one and depending on where in the world you are and the salon that you go to, it could also be called a Bikini XX, French Wax, or a landing strip.

Whatever you call it, a landing strip style is where the pubic hair is waxed to the same width as your natural fold or slightly thinner – it can resemble a Brazilian, but the main difference is that the labia and hair along the bum crack remain untouched. This is great if you love the minimalist look but don’t want to go all out.

4. The Bermuda Triangle

Also known as The American or Classic Bikini, this involves removing only the pubic hair that would be exposed by a bikini and is great for a pre-holiday tidy-up. The hair at the top of the thighs and under the navel can also be removed if necessary.

The pubic hair is trimmed, leaving behind a natural-looking triangle shape. This option is one of the easiest to do yourself, especially if you’re choosing to shave rather than wax. All you need to do is carefully shave around the general shape of the pubic region and then trim down the length. Great if you’re in a rush!

5. The Big Bush

When you choose to do absolutely nothing with your pubic hair and remain completely natural, this is a style in its own right. Sexual attractiveness comes in many shapes and sizes and for some, being completely natural is the sexiest option for both partners.

Some people say that it feels better and improves sensation for them during intercourse, too, and that they like the smell and feel of their lover’s pubic hair.

The Bush Pubic Hair

6. The Vajazzle

If you want to surprise your lover, a Vajazzle can make your garden sparkle. There are loads of ways to get creative, from applying gems to your pubic area – which come in a variety of shapes and letters, to dying the hair, or even adding a temporary tattoo.

Styling your pubic hair into a secret style that only the two of you know about can be a big turn-on. For the personalized touch, some have even shaved their lover’s initials into their pubic hair… now that’s a present they won’t forget!

Remember, there’s no wrong or right pubic hairstyle, and however, you choose to groom is fair game. No matter which looks you prefer, be sure to rock your new style with pride and confidence.

5 Women Pose for Striking Portraits of Their Pubic Hair

Here’s the lowdown on how to subscribe to Allure’s print edition for more beauty routines, recommendations, and features.

You likely have, at some point, removed some — perhaps even all — of your pubic hair.

A nationally representative 2016 study out of the University of California, San Francisco found that nearly 84 percent of the 3,316 women surveyed had groomed their pubic hair, and 62 percent had removed it all at least once. Shaving with a non-electric razor was the most popular method of grooming, followed by trimming with scissors and shaving with an electric razor.

Of course, grooming doesn’t exist in a vacuum, and individuals have long made their follicular decisions according to trends. Even the current natural-is-beautiful, pro-body-hair movement is a cultural product (and one that tends to focus on the hair of cis white women, at that).

Women and femmes are far from a monolith, however.

Beauty standards interact with gender identity, race, sexuality, relationships, and, yes, simple convenience to influence how we approach our pubes.

As the summer season of greater exposure approaches, Allure is exploring five women’s diverse relationships with their pubic hair — and featuring original photographs of them and their hair, or lack thereof.

The women’s overriding sentiment: I do what works for me; to each their own. And while ultimately we may not be able to separate our bush-care choices from beauty ideals, we can stop attaching moral judgments to pubic hair. Ahead, NSFW portraits and uncensored thoughts on the hair down there.

I don’t remember the exact age [I started shaving], but as middle school, I think, just seeing other girls do and it just being like, Oh, well, OK, I guess I’m gonna do it, too.

I’m a hairy person, but I’ve gone most of my life shaving most of my body hair just because there was this idea that I need to that I dealt with for a long time.

And so I kind of just woke up one day and…it started with my legs, and I was like, Why am I doing this? I don’t want really want to, so let me just see how long I can go with not shaving my legs and seeing if it bothers anybody, and no one ever said anything. So then I was [like], OK, so then, if I can apply this to my body hair on my legs, what about my bush?

I’ve experimented over the years: I’ve shaved it off completely, I’ve trimmed, but this is the first time that I’m just letting it be completely. I feel really good about it. It makes me feel sexy, it makes me feel affirmed; I don’t know, I think it’s cute, I like it.

In the last few years, [with] this whole body positivity and body hair appreciation movement, I’m noticing who is not included. Especially being a black person, a person of color, it’s very obvious to me when people from my community are not present in things.

So people being able to reclaim their body hair, that’s cool, but when it’s only light-skinned white girls who have, like, three, blonde hairs on their entire body, that sends a very strong message.

To me, it just felt really important to do this [shoot] because I really wish I could have had some visibility as far as a hairy, dark-skinned person. Even within the movement, I feel like it’s more looked down upon than we show our hair because the hair is different, too. It’s not straight, it’s not blonde, you can’t really hide it, it’s there.

The journey of my hair on my head, too, going from getting perms my entire life and then cutting it off to a half-inch when I was 17 and now letting it be wild and curly — this is how it grows out of my head — that’s also helped me feel better about body hair in general, because I’m like, This is how I want to look. And that’s really powerful, too.

I’m a queer person who has dated men, [and] I’ve really only had one partner that’s ever really commented on [my pubic hair]… It was one of the first times we were hanging out, and I didn’t tell [him] beforehand [that I let it grow] because I don’t really think it’s a big deal.

They were kind of like, “Oh! You’re hairy!” and I’m like, “Yeah, I am!”… They were kind of surprised, I guess because they were expecting me to not have any hair…, I’ve noticed just in general [with] the women and gender-nonconforming people I’ve dated, hair hasn’t really been an issue.

[As for how I see my partners,] it’s not really my place to police how other people maintain body hair and body image.

Do your thing. I don’t necessarily think everyone should go natural or everyone should shave, I’m like, Whatever fits your body. I have friends who do have bush maintenance, and they do wax, and they do shave and that works for them, and I’m like, Yo, more power to you. So as far as grooming, I do still get my eyebrows waxed and shave my armpits. But other than that, everything is kept natural.

Lydia, 27

I am a non-monogamous person and have several partners and have for several years, and I think that maybe makes me feel more of my own agency about any kind of upkeep or how I want my pubic hair to be or how I want my body hair to be.

None of my partners have ever expressed any preferences for me, which maybe is because I select people who have that point of view in the world. But the fact that there are multiple people…makes me feel extra like I’m not seeking feedback about this. It’s just for me. There is a possibility that if people have preferences, they might differ, and I don’t care. I’m the constant in all of those circumstances.

I think I started to remove body hair in junior high; I don’t remember any specific prompting event as much as just a vague sense that that’s what people do with adult bodies.

I experimented for a short period in my early 20s with not removing underarm or leg hair, which is a look I like on other femme-presenting people, but [I] actually just prefer the feeling of shaved legs and underarms for myself, so went back to shaving.

Sometimes I trim [my pubic hair];

sometimes I shave. I don’t wax… 1I feel like I go through phases about it. 2I like my hair to be short because I think the sensation is better. I like there to be less hair in the way during sex.

That is my own sensory preference. But I’m not interested in having no hair, I don’t think, and waxing just feels like an appointment to make and a thing to do, and I’m just not going to do it. [I’ve waxed before] just once to see [what it was like], and I liked having the skin-on-skin sensation, but it’s not a thing I’m going to do.

I am performing professionally [as a dancer] in a small amount of clothing some of the time, and even then I don’t really think about if some [hair] is showing — it’s fine.

The artistic community I have is super progressive about all body things, so no one really is thinking about it or looking for it. But being at a pool feels like there’s more external pressure — or a beach. [I clean up the edges before the pool or beach] but mostly just so I don’t have to think about it or worry about it or wonder about it, not because I feel any actual pressure…

It’s weird that [hairless] is what’s neutral: To not think about it, I have to do an action. But it seems like the path of least resistance in public, so it’s fine.

I genuinely have no preference for the body hair of my partners; whatever grooming people like to do for themselves, I’m into it. It does bum me out when it’s clear that someone feels pressured into a particular body hair situation or is disconnected from their own aesthetic or sensation preferences. Individuality in self-presentation is sexy.

Andi, 30

I’m a woman who is attracted to other women, [and] I find myself attracted to people with all kinds of body hair — whether that’s completely shaved, or styled, or just completely natural, all these things can be really, really sexy to me.

On myself, though, I prefer not to have any hair. It’s not so much a thing about femininity to me, it’s more just that I love the way that my skin feels when it’s completely smooth and bare…

So before I go out to a play party, or before I’m planning a big date, I’ll always be sure to remove all of my hair just so I feel nice and sexy about it.

I’m heading to a party tonight; it’s a party that’s a BDSM and sex party just for women and trans people.

[As a trans woman] I discovered my gender about seven years ago now. Before then, I hadn’t spent any time considering my gender. In my adolescence, I was always very socially awkward. I assumed that I was just socially awkward —

1I didn’t realize that I was trying to connect to people through a paradigm of a gender that made no sense to me, the mannerisms of that gender, trying to ape what I saw guys doing. [As I was discovering my gender,] 2I had a really wonderful friend who…had me go to Target, pick up my first pair of panties, pick up a razor.

And I proceeded to shave my whole body and get the worst razor burn of my life. So that was a transformative experience, you could say.

For the next few months,

I explored everything: I had one of those epilator devices that would just pull the hairs out; I tried wax; I tried all different things. Eventually what I settled on as the thing that was best for my skin was Veet… So that’s basically what I do now.
Before I go to a party or a date, I’ll take a shower and Veet myself during it and I basically do my whole body. 1I do my chest because I still get a little bit of hair there. I do my stomach; 2I do my pubic area; I do my legs, my ass, my arms, and my armpits.

I only really feel a need to do that before engaging in some intimate times or something where I want to feel really sexy. The rest of the time I just sort of let things grow as they will. So it’s maybe once a week or so.

I just went to a beach or a pool for the first time in quite a while as a public thing… I think I might’ve [tucked].
For those of you at home who don’t know, tucking is basically when you manipulate the various bits down there so that they end up inside of you and between your legs in such a way that [they] do not bulge out.

I don’t feel a need to aesthetically reconfigure what’s going on there through surgery to confirm my femininity, I already relate to my parts that same way [a cis woman does]…

I don’t feel a need to surgically modify anything because I feel very comfortable with how it is.

Kachine, 26

I shaved my legs [starting in middle school] because of an As Told By Ginger episode where she buzzed her ankles, and I was like, I really want to shave my legs, too. Is that stupid?

[Starting] in college, I shaved everything, all the time — completely, everything, and I did it every week, and I just felt like that’s something I should be doing. In college, I just felt like a lot of my friends were either waxing it all off or shaving it all off. I even have a few friends who do laser hair removal — but they do it because of ingrown hairs, so they can’t wax all the time but they have painful hairs down there, and I don’t experience that. I’ve never gotten [an ingrown hair].
But then I realized that I didn’t really care and it’s almost more private and special if you have hair there. I still shave my armpits, but I trim and I don’t really shave that much down there anymore. [It’s out of] laziness. And I feel like it’s healthier to have more hair there. And it felt sort of safer to have it, too, like you have this natural protection — it’s sort of ridiculous but it’s true.

Now I just trim or I’ll shave the top part maybe and not the bottom part, so right now it’s at least half-and-half, it’s a little lighter on the top, which is whatever. Nobody really seems to care or have a preference. I’ve never had a partner [care]… I think more people actually like hair there than not… For me, I don’t mind either [on a partner].

I think not shaving made me feel a lot more confident in myself, because when you do shave all the time…you feel like you’re putting on a show for something. Now that I just have hair everywhere, I’m not as worried about my image as. I feel more comfortable with myself, I think.

Ash, 29

[One time at school], this one boy unsolicitedly told me shaved his balls and asked me if I shaved my pubes. I was 16, so not super young, but he was maybe too old to be asking these sexual questions, he should have known better.
I just lied and said “Yes” because I sensed that was the answer I was supposed to give. And then that night I went home and shaved them off. But the experience of shaving them was really terrible. It was painful, I got razor burn, it was stubbly — even from the moment I stepped out of the shower, it didn’t feel good, so I just let them grow back in, and that was an awkward process.

Three years later [after I came out], my community of gay stuff existed purely online.

There was this [satirical] blog [that] did a categorized thing of pubic hair, so [the writer] had each style of pubic hair and what it was called…

I wasn’t doing anything with [my pubic hair] at this time and she called [ungroomed hair] “the unwashed bear” or something, and I was like, Oh, I thought I was clean but this whole time, I didn’t realize this thing’s disgusting, and if I start sleeping with other women, they’re going to think I’m disgusting.

1I didn’t really know how to fix it — shave it off, it felt gross, leave it on, it feels gross. 2I didn’t know you could just trim it or shape it… It really affected the next several sexual relationships that I had, because I was so obsessed with how gross I must be. I would trim it if it got too long, but then I was like, Is it patchy, is it weird?

Counterintuitively this stress came from somebody within my own community.

Over time, as I slept with more people, I realized nobody really cares. Even if they trim their pubic hair, they don’t care about yours, necessarily.

I usually just trim when it’s getting a little long. It’s not even really aesthetic, it mostly just feels more comfortable…

1I try not to do too much to it because I don’t want to waste my time. I don’t shave my legs either, or armpits. 2I spend enough time and money on my hair [on my head].

If I sleep with somebody, I’m going to sleep with them as they come… I feel like if you’re comfortable putting your face and hands-on somebody and not being squeamish about it, you can get all the sensitivity without having shaved labia.

[My trichotillomania] is kind of an issue because my pubic hair is the longest hair on my body… I do pull out my pubic hair, and because I don’t trim it [often], it’s there all the time; the hair is thicker, so it’s easier to grab.
And when I’m pulling out hair on my head, I’m trying to find ones that are thick and kinky, which is basically pubic hair. So I do pull out my pubic hair, and that’s probably the only thing I’m still self-conscious about. I don’t think it’s that visible, but there’s still one spot that’s constantly free of hair. If you pull out a hair enough times, it just won’t grow back.

20 Times Celebrities Got Totally Candid About Pubic Hair

They don’t beat around the bush. (Or lack thereof).

With all the talk of women being shamed for their body hair, it’s truly a gift when celebs actually get candid about their personal grooming rituals. Not just because we’re unabashedly curious, but because we’re baffled that the subject is still considered taboo. Here, we celebrate the stars who go on the record about their hair maintenance—from waxing tales to reclaiming the bush

Alison Brie

The star of Netflix’s Glow had to contend with some seriously high-cut silhouettes for her role as a wrestler in the ’80s-era show, and in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Brie noted how tough it was to keep her bikini line clean for the job: ”

I think during that era they must have been shaving or were they just pushing all their pubic hair in the center?

There are some nude scenes on the show and I’d say, well you’ll have to put a merkin on me— that’s a pubic hair wig —’cause if we see full body…I’m working with something that will look good in our costume.”Ashley Graham

Ashley Graham, forever a champion of owning your body and your choices, recently appeared in Glamour and had the best response when a reader asked the question, “Am I the only single woman with a bush?” Her answer?

“Honey, I have a full bush. Period. It’s about your preference and your partner’s preference.” Couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

Amber Rose

To promote the third year of her infamous SlutWalk, Amber Rose took to Instagram and defied its strict nudity rules with a shot of herself lounging with her bush on full display. After the post was deleted, Amber Rose called on her fans to recreate the photo with the hashtag #AmberRoseChallenge on behalf of “feminism, body positivity and not conforming to social norms of how we should live, what we should wear and where we should shave.”

Emma Watson

Along with her affinity for baths, we learned much more about Watson’s head-to-toe beauty routine via an interview with Into the Gloss, specifically her love for a certain Fur oil product: “I’ll use that anywhere from the ends of my hair to my eyebrows to my pubic hair. It’s an amazing all-purpose product.”

Ellen Page

Celebrities, they’re just like us?…turns out Ellen Page’s anxiety dreams don’t involve work or being chased, but pubic hair. On Conan, Page dove into her subconscious obsession with all things pubes, saying that many dreams feature her looking down and realizing that she has a crazy amount of hair down there. As she puts it, “It might as well be an old man’s beard.”

Gaby Hoffman

Gaby Hoffman has filmed many scenes for Amazon’s Transparent where her full-and-proud lady bush is on open display. After fielding questions about her choice to go unwaxed for the scenes, she very eloquently set the record straight to U.K.’s Evening Standard. She said,”I’m a human,

I have hair…when people want me to talk about whether I think the bush is back and whether that’s great for feminism, I’m like, ‘You know what’s great for feminism? Respecting everybody’s own choice.'” Amen, sister.

Seth Rogen

Seth Rogen—yes, really—went on the record on Late Night with Conan O’Brien about his pubic hair after posing for Playboy, where he joked about his fluctuations in manscaping. He said, “It’s been a lifelong battle for me personally. I used to trim them and they would grow back thicker, so where I’m at now with it is I let them grow out then I put them in a bun.” Trendy!

Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian once told Allure:

“I am Armenian, so of course I am obsessed with laser hair removal! Arms, bikini, legs, underarms…my entire body is hairless.” Alas, her sister Khloé revealed that Kim “now says she wishes she still had a li’l something going on,” during a stream on her new app.

Kourtney Kardashian

According to Khloé Kardashian, her sister Kourtney is “large and in charge with a full ’70s-style bush,” and that was pretty evident during an episode of KUWTK when her then-boyfriend Scott Disick helped her groom things down there for an upcoming photoshoot.

Khloé Kardashian

Never one to sugarcoat things, Khloé Kardashian revealed all her thoughts about pubic hair. “I’m all about the landing strip,” she explained on her app. “I like to be clean; I like to be manicured. When there’s nothing there, it’s weird, in my opinion—especially when you have tits and an ass. It just freaks me out a little bit. I don’t like looking at an adult woman and seeing nothing down there. Whenever I’m at the spa, it just makes me uncomfortable when I see that. But then again, it also makes me uncomfortable when I see something wild and untamed.”

Miley Cyrus

They say a picture is worth a thousand words and we concur, especially when it comes to Miley Cyrus’s now-infamous snap, in which she shows off hot pink underarm hair, as well as what appears to be a full-grown bush peeking out of her underwear. “Can’t be tamed,” indeed.

Lady Gaga

A similar supporter of the full bush movement was Lady Gaga, who was photographed for Candy magazine in 2013 wearing a coat and nothing much else, revealing her gloriously unwaxed lady bits.

Hoda Kotb

Kotb—a landing strip gal herself—is a firm believer that your pubic hair grooming method is very telling about your personality: “If you have a landing strip, you’re the kind of girl who never has to pay for the date, you only wear a thong, and you’ll attempt things you know you’re gonna be successful at,” she said during a taping of Kathy Lee and Hoda.

“Now, if you do bald, and there are people who do, you never do anything halfway, your dishwasher’s perfect, you’re OCD…everything’s in line. And if you don’t do a thing down there, you probably don’t own a flat iron…you sing Joni Mitchell in the shower, and you order your steaks plain.”

Solange

Back in 2010, Solange—hero—tweeted, “Whoever invented the bikini wax was an evil creature. Who said bushes need to b gone?!” And to that we say, preach.

Jennifer Lopez

J.Lo agrees bikini waxes are not for everyone. 1″I don’t love waxing,” she told Allure. 2″I just don’t like everybody…up in the business, you know what I mean? I shave everywhere; the only thing I wax is my eyebrows. It’s torture plucking the hairs out one by one.”

Gwyneth Paltrow

When Paltrow hit a red carpet showing off a major side butt in 2013, it sparked a conversation about her pubic hair, or rather lack thereof. Paltrow set the record straight confessing that while she was going bare during that appearance, she’s not typically one for a manicured look. “Well, let’s just say everyone went scrambling for a razor,” she told Ellen Degeneres. “I work a ’70s vibe. You know what I mean?” All too well, Gwynnie.

Jenny McCarthy

During a Playboy cover shoot, McCarthy shocked the set with her full-on bush. “All of a sudden I hear ‘Whoa, whoa!’ And I said, ‘Is there anything on it? What’s wrong?'” McCarthy told Oprah. “They said they never saw anyone as hairy as you in their entire life!”

Cameron Diaz

As the author of The Body Book, Diaz has some serious food for thought when it comes to permanent hair removal. “Women undergoing laser hair removal on all of their lady bits,” she writes. “Personally, I think permanent laser hair removal sounds like a crazy idea. Also, let’s be honest:

just like every other part of your body, your labia major is not immune to gravity. Do you really want a hairless vagina for the rest of your life? It’s a personal decision, but I’m just putting it out there: Consider leaving your vagina fully dressed, ladies.” We’re going to need a minute…

Jennifer Love Hewitt

JLH helped coin the term “vajazzled” when she confessed, “After a breakup, a friend of mine Swarovski-crystallised my precious lady, and it shined like a disco ball,” on Lopez Tonight. She went on to devote an entire chapter to the phenomenon in her book The Day I Shot Cupid.

Kate Winslet

Winslet has been such a dedicated waxer through the years, it once required her to go the faux route for a role. “I had to grow the hair down there,” she told Allure. “But because of years of waxing, as all of us girls know, it doesn’t come back quite the way it used to. They even made me a merkin—a wig—because they were so concerned that I might not be able to grow enough.”

Shaved, Waxed, Trimmed: How To Style Your Pubic Hair

Let’s talk pubes. Until very recently, talking about your pubic hair was a huge social no-no. But there’s also been a huge cultural shift in how we talk about men’s and women’s bodies – hair included.

Body hair has always been a weird source of shame or insecurity for many people. Most women, they’re taught from a young age that long hair is lovely and feminine, but only if it’s on their head. Otherwise, it’s gross and unhygienic – especially female pubic hair. For men, it’s the opposite: body hair is a sign of masculinity, virility, and power.

But in 2019, it’s all about loving your body, hair, and all. Whether shaving your pubic hair or sporting a full bush makes you feel sexy, we’re all here for it!

To guide you in your journey toward self-love and confidence, we put together a list of the most popular pubic hairstyles for females, males, and everyone in between. Plus a bonus guide on the best way to remove hair down there!

Tips And Tricks For The Perfect Pubic Hairstyle

  • Choose the hairstyle that makes YOU – not your partner, not society – happy. Your body, your rules.
  • For pubic hair removal, you can use wax strips, razors, or any other pubic hair trimmer that you’re comfortable with. Just make sure it’s clean! If using a razor, a sharp one will make closer cuts than a dull one.
  • Shaving on dry skin is tough; wet your hair (by soaking it in a bath or shower) for 10 to 15 minutes before shaving. This will help reduce irritation.
  • Using a gentle soap or even conditioner before shaving reduces nicks, in-grown hairs, and razor burn.
  • Apply a gentle moisturizer or after-shave immediately after. Aloe vera and coconut oil are great natural alternatives that will leave your newly-shaven skin soft and smooth.

Pubic Hairstyles For Men And Women

From trimmed pubes to manscaping styles (and pictures), we’ve got you covered. Here are 6 ways to wear your pubic hair.

The Bush

The Pornification of Pubic Hair via Elephant JournalPublished byOuttaPlaceVegan

No, not the president – we’re talking about your natural hair in all its full glory. The bush is obviously one of the most popular pubic hairstyles, male or female. It’s laidback, carefree, and incredibly low maintenance. Plus, your bush is there for a reason: to keep your genitals happy, healthy, and irritation-free!

You don’t need to do anything to achieve this look (that’s the whole point), but consider trimming the hair with a small pair of scissors just to keep it neat.

The Bikini

If you want something tidier than The Bush but still pretty low on the maintenance scale, then The Bikini is perfect for you. This is one of the more common vagina hairstyles for ladies since it’s easy yet breezy, and 100% beach-friendly.

The Bikini shave requires a trim along the creases of your legs. Basically, you get rid of any hair that might peek out of a bikini-style bottom. Then trim the remaining hair until it lies flat and even.

The Landing Strip

Bikini wax styles: All the shapes and confusing salon lingo, explained…CosmopolitanFrench wax: the landing strip – CosmopolitanUK

The Landing Strip is an absolute classic. It’s a great way to keep your pubic area neat without nuking all of the hair completely. It’s a favorite among models and pornstars because it’s clean but still says “I’m an adult, I have hair, deal with it.”

To get The Landing Strip, simply shave everything on your mom’s pubis but keep a trail of hair right down the middle. It can be as short or long, narrow or wide as you want. You might need a mirror to make sure it’s centered and not crooked!

The Heart

Bikini wax styles: All the shapes and confusing salon lingo, explained…cosmopolitan love heart- CosmopolitanUK

Okay, it’s a little cheesy, but you have to admit it’s cute.

Heart-shaped pubic hair is playful, fun, and unique. To get The Heart, start by shaping the bottom into a sort of downward-pointing triangle. Then, shave the top part into the two curves of the heart.

For the shape to really stand out, you might need to get up close and personal; use a small handheld mirror and maybe even a pair of tweezers to achieve a perfect heart shape!

The Dyed

If you have a little bit of a wild child in you that you’re dying to express, The Dyed is the pubic hairstyle for you.

Fair warning: it’s a lot of upkeep since you’ll have to color your hair regularly. And your skin down there is much more sensitive than your skin up top, so you’ll need to use gentler products, like diluted bleach and ammonia-free dye.

But if you manage to pull it off, it can have some pretty spectacular results.

Don’t want to mess with your sensitive pubic area? You can still try a colored ‘do with a dyed merkin wig, which is like a regular wig…except for your pubic hair!

The Brazilian

Bikini wax styles: All the shapes and confusing salon lingo, explained…CosmopolitanThe Hollywood- CosmopolitanUK

Brazilian is just a fancy word for a fully shaved vagina or penis. Being completely bare means feeling completely clean, free, and comfortable. But going completely hairless isn’t easy – not only will you have to shave your entire pubic region, but you might also have to reach down deep to get those pesky little butt-crack hairs. If you don’t trust your own shaving ability, get waxed by a professional, they’ll get into every nook and cranny for you!

Conclusion

The landing strip could be your signature style, or maybe you’re brave enough to rock it fully bare. No matter what you choose, your pubic hair is beautiful – and it’s nobody else’s business. If someone gives you trouble for your hair down there, understand that the hair on your crotch is no more significant than the hair on your head! How you wear it is up to you.

How to Trim Your Pubic Hair: 10 Techniques to Try

Pubes happen

We’ve all got a triangle of tresses on our private parts. Yes, we’re talking about pubic hair, folks. Consider this your go-to guide on how to safely trim the bushes — or let them grow out blemish-free.

How to prep your pubes for removal

If you’re on pube patrol, you’re dealing with some of your most sensitive parts so it pays to do a little preparation before diving in with sharp objects. A careful routine can prevent irritation, razor burn, and injury.

Clean your tools

Keep a separate grooming kit for your bits. Multitasking with tools you’ve used on other parts of your body can introduce infection. Before each use, soak your implements in a disinfectant such as Barbicide for at least 10 minutes, or clean them thoroughly with rubbing alcohol. Make sure your scissors or razors have sharp blades.

Trim excess hair before you shave, shape, or tidy

If you’ve got a long, thick thatch going on, cut the hair to about a quarter inch. This step helps you avoid razor or trimmer clogs. You’ll also gain a better view of your skin and the direction of hair growth, which will help prevent accidents.

Bathe before grooming

Whether you’re shaving it all or just shaping it up, start with clean skin to avoid bacteria-causing bumps. Wash your pubic region thoroughly with soap and water in the bath or shower. Soak or steam for at least five minutes to allow your skin to soften and your hair to expand.

Exfoliate

Using a loofah or a gentle scrub, exfoliate the area you plan to groom. Exfoliation removes any dead skin cells or sebum clogging the hair follicles. This provides your razor or other tools the smoothest surface possible to glide across.

Lather up

Keep your skin moist if you’re planning to shave. You need this lubrication to minimize friction and avoid nicks. Using cream or gel can also allow you to see where you’ve just shaved so you can avoid going over the area twice and causing irritation.

Shave or trim in the direction of hair growth

Going against the grain means your tool has to lift the hair before slicing at the follicle. This creates the potential for razor burn and other irritation. You’ll get a smoother result if you go with the flow.

Take your time and use caution

A hasty hack job could end in a nasty cut or even a trip to the ER. A 2017 study found that more than 25 percent of pubic hair primers have injured themselves. Sitting on a dry tub edge can help reduce your risk of slipping.

A comb-and-scissor cleanup

If you prefer the look and feel of fleece, simply snip and shape to your liking. A comb and scissors offer a hassle-free, almost cost-free approach.

Method

Facial hair scissors, which have protective rounded tips, work well on below-the-belt pelts.

Starting at the highest point on your pubic region where you want to groom, place a fine-toothed comb at the hair root flat against your skin. This provides a protective barrier between your skin and the scissors and offers a guide for an even cut.

Only trim the hair that sticks above the comb’s teeth. Work with a small section at a time and make your way downward. Focus on one side of the groin area first and then the other.

Simply repeat the process when hair grows too long or unruly for your liking.

Tips and tricks A handled moustache comb may work best for maneuvering around all the nooks and crannies of your nether region. If you’d like a longer look than what a comb-width provides, pull the hairs taut between two fingers.

Trimmer uses tactics

A trimmer offers a great way to get a close, downy crop. Keep in mind that trimmers are different than clippers.

Clippers typically tackle larger jobs, such as cutting hair on your head, whereas trimmers handle the finer details like sideburns and neck fuzz. Their precision work and safety guards make trimmers best for crotch-scaping.

Opt for a waterproof body hair trimmer you can take in the shower. This will prevent bathroom messes — but do watch for drain clogs.

Method

Start with a longer hair setting first. You can always make another pass with a shorter setting to achieve the desired look.

If you’re in the shower with a wet trimmer, apply a thin layer of cream or gel beforehand. Don’t use lather or get in the shower with a dry trimmer.

Shave in the direction of the grain first, then shave against the grain on your second go-round. Always use a light touch.

For maintenance, this method will require a redo every few days to a week, depending on preference.

Tips and tricks You’ll find plenty of trimmers out there specifically designed for prettying up your pubes. Look at options marketed toward the opposite sex as well. Don’t miss out on something that will work best for your body or budget just because of packaging.

Razor best practices

Shaving with a razor is the most popular method and trusted Source of wrangling those wiry hairs. Always start with a clean, sharp blade to avoid infection, irritation, and nicks.

Method

Soften skin and expand the hair within 5 to 10 minutes in the bath or shower. Lather up with shaving cream, gel, oil, or butter. Choose products designed for sensitive skin and avoid applying directly to the vaginal opening, anal opening, or urethra. Rinse your razor after each swipe.

  • For the general public area. For the area above your genitals and your bikini or brief line, pull the skin taut and shave in the direction of hair growth.
  • For shaving the penis. Hold the shaft upwards and shave in slow, even strokes toward the base. If you’re aiming for hairless balls too, pull the scrotum skin taut and make delicate downward strokes.
  • For a fur-free vulva. Work with the labial folds on one side first and then the other. Hold skin taut and shave in downward strokes using a gentle touch.
  • For beautifying a bushy tail. You can gently shave the hair off your butt cheeks in a downward motion. For your crack and perineum, place a handheld mirror on the floor and stand over it with legs hip-distance apart. Get into an easy squat. Pull one cheek taut and shave in gentle outward and downward strokes before working with the other side.

Tips and tricks A soak in the tub with a little bath oil does wonders for softening your sensitive parts pre-shave. Don’t stay in there too long, however, or you risk dealing with pruning skin. Wash your hands with soap and water before shaving to avoid slippage.

How to keep your pubic area free of bumps and irritation

What you do after grooming holds just as much importance as how you go about it. Treat your skin to a little TLC to prevent ingrown hairs, bumps, and irritation.

After shaving or grooming with methods that remove hair from the root, you’ll have open follicles and pores that could become inflamed.

Here’s how to avoid and treat dilemmas down under.

  • Soothe and moisturize. Apply a salicylic acid treatment to external areas to combat inflammation and ingrown hairs. Let dry and then apply a soothing scent-free oil or other moisturizers to condition skin and follicles and help prevent the dreaded stubble itch.
  • Wear cotton skivvies and avoid tight clothing for a few days. Polyester or other synthetic fibers can irritate, whereas cotton is soft and breathable.
  • Treat bumps. If you notice ingrown hairs or razor burns in the following days, apply a warm, wet compress to see if you can open the follicles or pores. Then slather on an over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream and topical antibiotic to reduce inflammation and combat infection.
  • Exfoliate daily. Use a loofah or apply a salicylic acid product to keep your skin bump-free and primed for your next priming session.

To bare or not to bare

Take your pick on what to do with your pubes. Whether you keep it all, shape it to your liking, or go buff, it’s up to you.

According to one 2017 study, leaving your pubes in place could provide minor protection from sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Hair removal methods pose the risk of cuts, abrasions, and microscopic skin openings, which could invite bacteria and viruses such as STIs.

Just use caution when grooming your pleasure patch. Of course, keep in mind that intact pubic hair isn’t a sub for proper protection when it comes to safe sex.

Pubic hair panache

You style your drapes, so why not your rug? If you groom your pubes, you have aesthetic options to consider.

Style Description
Bikini/edging Remove just what peeks out of your undies or briefs.
Landing strip/patch Take the bikini style further by shaping your pubic patch into a neat rectangle or line.
Lion’s mane Remove all the hair from the balls, penis, and shaft base, and leave your pubic patch full. This visual effect may enhance the size of your package.
Brazilian Go completely bare.
Other pube-grooming possibilities

Trimming and shaving are just a few means of fuzz-busting, but you’ve also got other grooming options.

  • An epilator is an electrical device that grips and pulls hair out by the root, with results lasting about four weeks. However, the ouch factor can aggravate sensitive skin.
  • Waxing uses hot wax and cloth strips to yank the hair out by the root. Results last four to six weeks or longer. For safety reasons, waxing is best performed in a salon with a trained esthetician and followed up with smart aftercare.
  • Threading lassos your hair and pulls it out by the root. Although threading has lasting results like waxing, it’s time-consuming and typically works best for removing small sections of hair or for cleaning up strays after waxing.
  • Sugaring involves the application of a paste or gel, usually made of water, sugar, and lemon juice, that adheres to your hair rather than the skin and pulls it out by the root. Results are similar to waxing. For hair removal on genitalia, leave this method to the pros.
  • Depilatories are creams that produce a chemical reaction to break down hair so it can be rinsed away. Results last a few days to a week. Although depilatories can be used on the bikini or brief line, they aren’t meant to be applied to genitalia. People with sensitive skin should avoid them completely.
  • Laser hair removal and electrolysis use highly concentrated light to destroy your hair follicle. Over time, you can achieve long-lasting results.

Your patch, your prerogative

You’ve got a lot of choices when it comes to your wonder wool, but keep in mind that pubic hair isn’t a reason to panic. You can do whatever you wish with your pubes. Don’t let a partner or pal pressure you into choosing something that’s not right for you. Grow it, groom it, or go bare. Just choose whatever makes you and your precious parts happy.

5 Trending Male Pubic Hair Designs Men Are Shaving into Their Body Hair

We’re glad that you’ve taken such a proactive approach to your manscaping. You’ve learned to enjoy it, and we can trust that you have the basic competence to groom your pubes without damaging your junk. That’s good. Now, you think you might be ready to advance your sense of pubic style. That’s great! We always want to help your endeavors, so here’s a quick list of what’s trending in the world of manscaping.

The Classics

We’ve commented on manscaping styles plenty of times before. Doing so as often as we do, you come to recognize a difference between temporary trends and eternal classics. We’ll discuss some of those trends in a minute, but it’s always best to give credit where it is due first. These are the five classics that will always be part of the manscaping discussion.

First up is the natural. Don’t let the name fool you; this is not a leave-it-alone style. The natural aims to incorporate light grooming to leave the bush looking like a bush but with a little less wilderness. A proper natural won’t have clean lines or closely cropped pubes, but anyone who has seen an ungroomed body before will instantly recognize the work that goes into it.

Contrary to the natural is the mega-bush. This is the style where you just let it all hang the way it was made. No trimmer or razor ever touches the mega-bush. It’s a bold style, but it shouldn’t be adopted lightly. Most prefer some grooming down there, but for the (very) few who are fans of a mega-bush, nothing less will suffice.

Getting into more contemporary looks at manscaping, we come to the triangle. It’s exactly what the name suggests: you trim your pubes into a tight triangle. Alone, it’s a nice enough look, but the triangle is also the first stage for a bunch of other, more advanced grooming designs. We’ve covered that in detail before. One thing to note about the triangle (and the next design we’re about to mention) is that it requires the shaving of the pubes. Be careful. You need the right trimmer and plenty of patience. Without both, shaving the pubes can be miserable.

The landing strip is another modern classic. It doesn’t lead to additional designs, but its basic, clean look is appealing to the masses. Just groom from happy trail to shaft in a single, thin line of hair. The landing strip itself should also be trimmed down to a reasonable level.

Pubic Hair StylesThe last classic look is known by many names: the baldy, the prepubescent, the swimmer, and the naked mole-rat. As some of these nicknames imply, it isn’t always an attractive look, but there are reasons to go completely bald below the waist. Sports are a primary motivator, and the occasional request from a sexual partner is also a good enough reason. Whatever your reasoning, a bald undercarriage is a lot of work. 5 trending male pubic hairs designs men are shaving into their body hair

The Face-Hugger

Pubic Hair Styles – Now that we have the classics covered, we can get into some new trends. The face-hugger isn’t viral yet, but we think it will be soon. How is this best described? Do you remember those toys that had a bunch of metal pins in them? They might be called a pin art set. You could put your face into it and it would create a mold. That’s the inspiration for the face-hugger.

The basic idea is that your groin hair will lightly tickle your lover as they graciously provide you with divine fellatio. That requires your bush to become a reverse mold of a person’s face. It is not easily done, but the sheer wow factor when you pull it off is worth all of the effort. The only reason it isn’t the leading trend is because of the difficulty of execution. Still, can you think of a better way to extend a polite invitation for someone to put their mouth on your junk?

The Holiday Special

The holiday special is a two-edged sword. On the one hand, it will keep you from getting lazy or complacent with your manscaping. On the other, it’s a lot of work. The key here is creativity. You take impending holidays as inspiration and groom accordingly. Here are a few obvious hints to get you started. Carve a jack-o’-lantern into your pubes for Halloween. Consider decorating with bells and streamers for Christmas. Is the 4th coming soon? How about stars and stripes to adorn your manhood?Pubic Hair Styles

The ceaseless rotation of themes will prevent your pubic style from ever-growing stale, and that’s good for you. When asked what they like in manscaping, one of the most common female responses was creativity. Holidays give you excuses to experiment with color, accessories, and all other fashions of genuine public creativity. If you need more help getting started, here are some upper-deck ideas.

Don’t Forget the Thighs

This might feel like cheating because it isn’t a specific style per se, but we’ve seen a trend that a lot of ladies are noticing a common problem in the manscaping of their men. Your legs grow hair all the way up to your balls, so you need to consider them in your manscaping. If you have the most perfect lawn in the world only to be overgrown at the edge of your thighs, you’re undercutting your own success. Match the upper thighs to the rest of your groin. It’s just common sense. Pubic Hair Styles

5 O’Clock Shadow

We mentioned a survey of women before. More specifically, Rebel Circus asked a ton of women what they want out of their man’s lower grooming. Creativity was the second most popular response. Keep that in mind after reading all of this. If you have a cool idea, go for it!

Pubic Hair Styles-That said the most popular response was some variant of a 5 o’clock shadow. Just as the rugged imagery has been attractive on men’s faces for eons, women have noticed that the visual appeal works just as well downstairs. The exact nature of your shadow might vary. Some women like straight-up stubble. Others prefer that you keep the hair just long enough that it can be soft, but they still want it to look as close to the shadow as possible. You’ll have to decide where to draw your own line, but once you figure it out, maintaining the shadow is easy. Just find the right length guard on your Lawn Mower 3.0 and go to town. It’s some of the easiest manscaping maintenance out there.

Putting it into Practice

The thing about trending pubic hair designs is that they require effort and skill. We give a lot of advice to beginners, but if you’re ready to advance your game, we have a few specific tips to help you get there. Pubic Hair Styles

Trimming

The key to advanced trimming is to use The Lawn Mower 3.0. This might sound like a shameless plug, but we’re really focusing on SkinSafe™ technology. The blade on the 3.0 allows you to really press into your skin without getting any nicks or cuts. This helps you get really good lines and clean shapes out of your advanced designs before you grab a razor. That’s important.

The Rest

Here’s the good news. No matter how technical and impressive your grooming becomes, the rest of manscaping doesn’t change. You still want to follow each grooming session with a shower that utilizes the Active pH Control of Crop Cleanser. And each shower should be followed by a healthy application of Crop Preserver and Crop Reviver. The only thing to consider is whether or not your manscaping efforts are going to add extra irritation to your skin. If so, a little extra Crop Reviver throughout the day should take care of it. Pubic Hair Styles

Congratulations, gents! You’re now up-to-date on manscaping fashion. You’re armed with the tools to make a true impression with your sub-naval stylings. That should help your love life and keep your days interesting. Just remember: no matter how beautiful your junk becomes, unsolicited pictures and exposure are still illegal. Until next time, stay fresh out there and stay tuned for more updates at MANSCAPED.COM.

6 Women With Natural Pubic Hair Share the Reasons They’ll Never Go Bare Again

No more ingrown, better body confidence, and other full-bush health benefits.Pubic Hair Styles

For years, the trendiest pubic hairstyle was a trimmed or bald bush. But we’ve noticed a recent uptick in the number of women who’ve tossed out their razors and waxing kits in favor of letting things go au natural down below. Anecdotally speaking, lady lawns seem to be coming back into style—and it might be because more women are discovering the surprising health benefits.

RELATED: The Healthiest Style of Pubic Hair

“From a health standpoint, removing pubic hair can lead to irritation of the hair follicle, and open wounds or nicks, which may increase the risk for STI transmission,” says Maureen Whelihan, MD, an ob-gyn at the Elite GYN Care of the Palm Beaches in Florida. It’s not clear if less hair means a higher risk of STIs, but one study did link pubic hair removal to increased transmission of herpes and HPV.

Curious about some of the other wellness benefits, we asked six women who love their hairy pubes to tell us how it’s boosted their physical, mental, and sexual health. Here’s why they’ve sworn off grooming for good. Pubic Hair Styles

“I feel more confident with pubic hair”

“I always kept my bush because I never liked the way [my vagina] looked or felt without hair. For years I felt ashamed about that, especially in my teens and early 20s—when it seemed like everyone was totally bald. But by honoring my hair preferences, I knew I was a lot more confident in the bedroom than if I’d shaved. I also learned that if a partner didn’t like it, they weren’t the partner for me.” —Danny, 26

“I never have to deal with ugly, painful ingrown”

“Why am I bush-positive? Because ingrown hairs suck. And I don’t have to worry about getting them if I don’t shave or wax. When I did, I’d try to find shaving cream, post-wax oil, or some other soothing product that could prevent them. So I finally decided to leave my hair be. I’m glad there are plenty of people and potential partners who appreciate a full bush and think it’s sexy.” —Ellen, 32Pubic Hair Styles

“My bush makes me feel powerful and womanly”

“Having pubic hair is like giving the finger to that prepubescent look that porn made so popular. My bush makes me feel powerful and womanly, and 100% sexy. For me, it’s all about feeling confident and body positive in my natural state. My advice to any woman who is growing out her pubes for the first time is to own them. Strut your stuff. Embrace your natural body state.” —Meghan, 24

“My bikini area is no longer chafed and bumpy”

“My ex-boyfriend expressed a preference for hair, so I stopped shaving to see if I’d like it, too. I’d started removing my pubic hair as soon as it began appearing, so I’d never seen myself with a bush. Turns out, I loved it! Zero irritation, no razor bumps, no weird chafing from my spandex shorts or underwear. He and I have since broken up, but I still sport a bush. I recommend that any woman who has never seen or felt her lady bits with pubes grow it out at least once. You could find you love it as much as I do.” —Elizabeth, 25Pubic Hair Styles

“My skin is protected from rubbing and irritation”

“Creams and at-home waxing kits made me break out, shaving left me with painful bumps, and plucking was a pain. Professional waxing was not only expensive and time-consuming, but it hurt. After 15 or 20 years of this, I decided to finally listen to my body. Now I have a 1970s-style porn bush, and I love it. I can wear way sexier lace underwear without dealing with irritation because my hair protects me from nasty rub.” —Alexa, 35

“Having hair saves me time”

“One day I was in the shower using a razor on my nether regions and I thought to myself, How much time could I save if I just stopped grooming? At first, not shaving was an experiment: save 10 minutes two to three times a week. But the longer I stopped shaving, the more having hair grew on me, and I ended up enjoying the look of it. By not shaving, I save 20 minutes a week, which is almost seven hours a year. LOL.” —Carly, 27

5 Women On Why They’re Done Shaving Their Pubic Hair

Perhaps you’ve already heard: The bush is back. Yes, claiming that a body part is “in” or “out” of fashion is still inherently problematic, yet many have noted that a fuller-bodied pubic hairstyle is being celebrated in the public eye in 2018 in a way it hasn’t been for quite some time. Pubic Hair Styles
In 2013, photographer Petra Collins’ picture showing her pubic hair was deleted from Instagram, causing uproar and igniting debate. In 2017, Ashley Graham, model and forever champion of owning your body and your choices, said in an interview: “I have a full bush. Period. It’s about your preference and your partner’s preference.” Amber Rose, too, posted a picture of her full foliage on Instagram in 2017 (it was also deleted, but lives on Twitter). Earlier this year, even Vogue noted a return to more hair down there — a trend likened by waxer Pat Stark to the “return to thicker brows.”Pubic Hair Styles
Throughout the ’90s and the ’00s, hair trends came and went, as trends are wont to do. Being a young woman growing into her body during the 2000s meant that a lot of what I saw didn’t have much hair on it at all. It’s now 2018, and I’ve been waiting nearly 17 years for my eyebrows to grow back fully after the ghastly pencil-thin brow debacle of the early ’00s, fashioned fabulously by the likes of Christina Aguilera and Paris Hilton. And although many women have resolutely refused to bow to societal pressure when it comes to body hair, one only has to recall the ubiquity of the Brazilian back then to remember how intense that pressure once was.

In reality, the eulogy for a fully dressed mons pubis was written way before the dawn of low-rise jeans and the desire for hot wax. Because, of course, women have been waxing, shaving, and preening their nether regions since the dawn of time.Pubic Hair Styles
If early Renaissance art is anything to go by, one would expect the female body to present in real life as completely hairless. In 1532, a book of secret recipes for all kinds of hair removal advocates a mixture of arsenic and quicklime. The book advises: “Wash the skin when it becomes hot, so as not to remove the flesh.” The ancient Greeks favored a (slightly) less dangerous method of depilation. Methods of hair removal for Grecian women ranged from the arduous task of plucking out the hairs one by one to singeing them off with hot ashes or a burning lamp. In the Elizabethan era, women were more inclined to keep their pubic hair intact, although some still opted to go hairless, mainly to decrease the risk of contracting pubic lice. Nice.
In light, then, of evidence suggesting that women have been burning, boiling, and lacerating their skin since the dawn of time in the search for ultimate beauty, the recent mainstream appreciation of female body hair is actually pretty radical.

When I first noticed the hair growing in my pubic area, my instinct was to shave it all off. Not because the sight of it frightened me — I’d been told to expect it from a certain age — but because something about removing my pubic hair made me feel bizarrely grown-up, even though what I was doing was making me look less like an adult. Knowing I had control over my own body gave me a sense of autonomy that young women so often crave. Nowadays, however, I leave my pubes to grow out for so long that if I wear a skirt or a dress in high temperatures, I run the risk of starting a bushfire.
A world away from violating our vulvas with arsenic and burning ourselves at the follicle, we are getting much closer to lacerating societal ideals about what our bodies should look like to be accepted or desired. I spoke to five other women who have given up hair removal down there and are ready to dispense a long, tall “follicle off” to anyone who still assumes the right to suggest what they should or should not do with their pubic hair. New pubic hair trend revealed – waxing experts reveal the truth

Is the bush back or is it still hooray for Hollywood? Salon professionals reveal what the UK’s women are REALLY doing with their hair down there

You’ve admired your friend’s latest hair color, you’ve asked your sister where her new lipstick is from and you’ve quizzed your fresh-faced workmate on her skincare secrets.

However there’s one area of female grooming where you’re rather less likely to swap tips, styling inspirations, and (god forbid!) compliments, and that’s the bit below the belt.

Celebs like Gwyneth Paltrow and Cameron Diaz have professed their love for pubes, and Vogue recently proclaimed ‘the bush is back’ but is it really? It’s tricky to know for sure when the topic of lady garden pruning remains taboo for so many. Pubic Hair Styles

Gwyneth has said she ‘rocks a 70s vibe down there’ (Image: PA)

‘Millennials will chat openly about their bikini line, but many of our older clients would never talk to their friends about what they’re doing down there,’ says Michaela Pak from Strip Wax Bar. ‘They often ask us what’s fashionable because they have no idea.’

Whether you’re confused by bikini line options, or just curious to know what styles other women are sporting down there, here are the questions you might not dare to ask your mates.

What are my different style options down below?

There are plenty of variations, but here’s your basic style menu. All three can be achieved by waxing, shaving, or laser. Pubic Hair Styles

The Hollywood: when all hair is removed, top, bottom, and everything in between. (Think Barbie, basically.)

The Brazilian: when some hair is left ‘up top’, and all the hair from the labia and bottom is removed. There are various options for the hair that’s left, from a thin strip to a triangle or even a love heart.

The classic bikini: when excess hair is removed at the sides, so nothing peeks out of underwear. How far you go depends on your swimwear or underwear style. The remaining hair is trimmed, although the labia area is left alone.

Are there any trends in bikini line grooming?

Oh yes. Right now, the UK’s salons are seeing a resurgence of the lady garden, according to Chloe Scriminger from the Ministry Of Waxing.

‘We’re noticing it’s becoming very popular to retain hair on the top and also more of it. There’s a definite trend towards a slim triangle shape rather than a skinny landing strip,’ she reveals. Pubic Hair Styles

Do bikini line styles vary with age?

Definitely. Although the ‘bush is back’ trend is having some influence, around 70% of Strip’s 20-something clientele still goes for Hollywood, says Michaela.

Women in their 30s, 40s, and 50s are more likely to leave some hair up top, says Michaela. This group also tends to go for a Brazilian and have their labia waxed.

The most conservative group is those 60+, who Chloe estimates make up about 10-15% of the Ministry Of Waxing’s clientele. ‘More of those ladies will go for a classic bikini wax, removing hair from the sides so nothing is peeking out of underwear, rather than having a Hollywood or Brazilian. They definitely still want to be neat and trimmed though.’Pubic Hair Styles

Do women switch up their bikini line style?

Not that often. 70% of women stick to the same style while only 30% like to try something different from time to time, according to research from Venus.

However, it’s quite common for ladies to switch from bare to the bush when they become mums, according to Chloe. ‘Women often say they don’t want their daughters to think there’s something wrong with pubic hair when they go through puberty,’ she explains.

For this reason, Strip now offers a ‘laser wax’ specifically designed to let Hollywood fans keep their style options open. Pubic Hair Styles

‘We laser a high bikini line but only wax the hair in the middle so that way women can grow it back in the future,’ says Michela. It’s certainly easier than opting for a pubic hair transplant (and yes, such a service does exist at clinics like Harley Street’s DHI Global.)

A professional wax can get you as bare as you like

How much does a bikini wax hurt?

Obviously, you are ripping hair out of a sensitive area so the wax isn’t going to be entirely pleasant. However, the idea of it tends to be far worse than the reality, says Michaela. ‘We use a technique where clients breathe out when we pull the wax off, which really helps.’

The most eye-watering of all hair removal options in Hollywood. ‘The very top of the labia is the most uncomfortable area to wax or laser,’ says Chloe. ‘Our therapists are experts who know how to make it as painless as possible, but everyone’s threshold is different.’

Interestingly, your experience might depend partially on your hair color. Redheads tend to have thicker, more wiry hair which means waxing can be more uncomfortable, says Chloe. ‘It’s the same for women whose pubic hair has gone grey and more coarse.’Pubic Hair Styles

How does it feel to be 100% bare?

A Hollywood will definitely make you feel different downstairs. ‘Most women love how smooth and clean they feel. However when you have a wee, it won’t always come out straight and some people decide they just don’t like that feeling of having any hair on their labia,’ says Chloe.

Expect to feel different down below after a Hollywood wax (Image: iStockphoto)

How long should my hair be before I wax it?

Don’t worry your hair is too long, as a therapist will always trim a bush down to make waxing more comfortable. Having hair that’s too short is the real problem, says Chloe. ‘The shortest length we can wax is 6mm, which is at least 10 days after a shave.’Pubic Hair Styles

Can’t I do an intimate wax at home?

Honestly? It’s not something to attempt DIY. ‘We only use hot wax on the bikini line for the reason it sticks only to the hair and not the skin,’ says Chloe. ‘We’ve seen many people who’ve tried to do it at home with a cold wax strip. They’ll come in with it still attached because they’ve tried ripping it off and it’s stuck or they just can’t bring themselves to do it.’ In short: if you’re tackling that area yourself, use a razor.

Using a razor is the safest option for DIY grooming (Image: iStockphoto)

Won’t it be embarrassing to see a professional?

There’s no reason to be shy. ‘It’s the hair we’re focused on, it doesn’t matter to us where it’s growing from,’ says Chloe. Pubic Hair Styles

Women often fret about hygiene, but there’s really no need she adds. ‘It’s common to worry we smell unpleasant down there, but honestly, that’s not true, it’s a very natural odor.’

‘Clients always get hygiene wipes to use before waxing, and every therapist will wear a face mask because when she’s waxing that area she will get pretty close. The mask is actually to stop germs from the therapist getting into the client’s open hair follicles but it’s also very reassuring for the clients.’

What if I look a bit funny down there?

Honestly, you don’t! So don’t worry, says Chloe. ‘Women always ask us, ‘Am I normal down there?’ and the truth is, everyone is unique – and there’s not a vagina we can’t wax. No shape is harder to get a good result on.’Pubic Hair Styles

OK, ultimate cringe. What about getting my bum waxed?

Salons know women might find this pretty embarrassing, so it’s usually done at the end of a Brazilian – by which time there are few secrets left anyway. ‘You don’t have to get on all fours,’ reassures Chloe. ‘You just lie on your stomach, separate your legs and hold your bum cheeks apart to get a nice stretch. We can get everything from that position.’Pubic Hair Styles

The Pubes Diaries: We asked 52 Aussie women to draw what their pubes look like.

Pubes. Lady garden. Bush. Bald eagle. Landing strip. Muff. Brazilian. Mons pubis.

These are just some of the names women use to describe their pubic hair.

Pubic Hair StylesDespite what society (or a former partner) might’ve told you, there’s no ‘right way to have your pubes. Just as no vagina is the same (like lovely, fleshy snowflakes), pubic hair grooming is deeply personal.

Before we get stuck into the bushes, here’s a full and very hairy history of women’s pubic hair. The post continues after the video.

Ideo by MMC

Any mainstream porn video will have you believe a hairless labia is the sexiest, and some women agree. Some prefer being hairless or maintaining a close trim because it makes them feel more confident, cleaner, and better prepared to jump into swimmers at a moment’s notice.

Others purposely maintain a full, well-groomed bush as they feel it looks more womanly. Then, some do absolutely nothing to their pubes out of laziness, being time-poor, or generally not giving two hoots.

To learn more about what women are doing with their hair ‘down there’ in 2020, we asked 52 Mamamia readers to draw their pubic hair for us. Yep, we actually made them sketch their pubes. Pubic Hair Styles

What came back ranged from bald, bushy, and everything in between.

1. Han, 28.

“I like completely clean edges, underneath and at the back. I love them shaped into a big, wide triangle. No waxing along the top of the triangle as I like this area softer. I also don’t like it trimmed too much as I feel spiky. Perhaps we could call it ‘groomed au natural.” Pubic Hair Styles

“I have a patch of severe psoriasis on one side of my pubic mound, so I have a bald patch of plucked pubes so it is easier to treat. Other than that, it’s all fully grown.” Pubic Hair Styles

Pubic Hair Styles” I usually get a XX wax (not Brazilian – not my style!) every couple of months, but I haven’t for Aaaages because I can’t… be bothered. Hair doesn’t bother me at all and I won’t be wearing bathers anytime soon, so I’ve just kinda let it go. Meh. It’s a little neater at the moment because I shaved my bikini line on the weekend and I just have a bit in the middle.”

“I do absolutely nothing to maintain my pubes, apart from the odd razor down the sides when I put a bikini on. 1I grew up in a household of hippies and was always told that over-maintenance was weird. 2I guess it’s the opposite of what the mainstream media tend to tell you. 3I have never felt self-conscious about it, I just go about my day.”Pubic Hair Styles

“I don’t have any pubes. I get mine lasered off fully. For me, it’s a low-maintenance thing. I’m not the person that will keep up regular waxing, and shaving is way too painful. When it gets to summer, it’s easier to have it all gone. No more timing your beach trips with your trips to the waxing salon. No more ingrown hairs… it’s amazing. Laser is the best thing I ever did. It’s also easy and cost-effective, and I only have to think about it once every six to 12 months for touch-ups.”Pubic Hair Styles

14. Chloe, 26.

“I started shaving my legs at 12, my armpits at 13, and my pubes at 14, and I’ve never looked back! It had nothing to do with men and everything to do with me. I prefer it this way, I like having the option of wearing skimpy undies or bikinis without the mess, and it’s less hassle to continuously remove it over letting it grow out and trying to shave the bush. I couldn’t even tell you what I would look like with a full bush, I don’t know if I’m willing to try it.”Pubic Hair Styles

16. Lou, 39.

“Pubes away! I, after only getting short, back, and sides for years, have had the top (mons pubis is hair-free) and bikini line (bits that stick out of your undies) lasered. 17. Jessie, 24.

“Usually, I’m bare because I like the way it feels and it seems cleaner for me (in my experience, guys don’t care either way so I do it for me) but post-childbirth, I’ve just got it trimmed short because I had a c-section and can’t wax or laser right now.”Pubic Hair Styles

19. Lauren, 29.

“I laser my pubes off. I’m bare as a baby’s bottom. I just find it so much easier to maintain, I really don’t have to think about it. And it’s great for summer!”Pubic Hair Styles

20. Kim, 37.

“I do eff all to my pubic hair because I got sick of how sensitive my skin was to waxing. I’m not super hairy and my partner says it doesn’t bother him one bit so long as I’m putting out (???). I do tidy up a bit for bikini weather so as not to scare the children.”Pubic Hair Styles

21. Pru, 20.

“I usually trim everything, then shave the outer edges to tidy up the shape. When I’m getting intimate with someone, I want them to see I take care of myself. Otherwise, if I’m not planning on getting it on, I leave my pubes be.”Pubic Hair Styles

22. Emmy, 31.

“I shave once a week. I have relatively sparse hair after being lasered over 10 years ago, but waxing gives me crazily ingrown. Shaving once a week suits me perfectly. I hate the feeling of “full bush”.”Pubic Hair Styles

“I prefer some growth because I’m not pre-pubescent. I’m 34 and wonder what all these old, sagging, wrinkly over-lasered/waxed jeans will look like when we’re in our seventies. To the bald eagles, you do you. But it’s not my thing.”Pubic Hair Styles

“Right now, my lady parts aren’t how I like them to be but I’m too embarrassed to have them waxed. Usually, if anything, it’s a quick trim at home.”

“I’ve always found hairless mons a bit infantilizing in the way they look in art. I love the full bush, it makes me feel womanly.”

26. Maegan, 32.

“I have mine trimmed with shaved sides. Waxing hurts so darn bad and I can’t stand the regrowth if I need to be in my togs that day. I also feel weird and uncomfortable with nothing there too.”

“Having braved about eight laser treatments (and then being too lazy to go back to tidy up), I have a main ‘patch’ and then the groupies that are hanging on at the sides…”

“I started having laser three years ago and am now at the point where an annual session keeps the strays away. 1I do, however, have two rogue hairs that want to hang around. 2I don’t mind them though, they can stay.”

“I don’t like the feeling of a bush and sometimes, a bush means a bit more smell than usual. I was shaving them so much and it was always itchy when they were growing back, so I decided to laser it all off. Hands down the best thing I’ve ever done!”

30. Jane, 45.

“I have a thin landing strip. Occasionally, I take it all off, but not very often. I actually prefer a full Brazilian and if I was less conscious of putting my flaps out there and had a much higher pain tolerance, I would get a regular professional wax. My husband also likes no hair (he says it’s better during sex but he will take it any way it’s coming at him).”

“I prefer neat – but some hair. Neither my husband nor I like bald on a grown woman, as we have a six-year-old daughter and bald feels weird.”

32. Em, 30.

“I have had two sessions of laser (full Brazilian) and I wish I had started it earlier. It was quick and painless for me. I honestly never really cared how the pubes themselves looked – I kept my bikini line neat-ish and that’s it – but because they were long, coarse, and curly, it felt like they made a little ‘bump’ on top of my pubic bone and stood out, especially in swimwear and leggings. Since having the laser done, I can see my vulva daily whereas before I just saw the hair. I think this has made me more in touch and aware of it as well. I definitely prefer it being smoother and not as itchy.”

33. Sally, 37.

“I’m lazy. My pubes may be a bit more manicured in summer as I do a lot of lap swimming for exercise, however, there’s an emphasis on the “maybe”. Otherwise, it’s quickly in the pool, and grabbing a towel out of the pool to hide spider legs.”Pubic Hair Styles

“I am pro landing strip because having the whole thing long and bushy weirds me out, but then I don’t want the hassle of maintaining by shaving as it gets itchy. I’d rather just have a clean slate and leave a little something.”Pubic Hair Styles

“I spent my first 10 years of pubic hair maintenance shaving and the next 10 years waxing before getting laser five years ago. Best thing I ever did! I may hate the lack of hair when I’m super old, but right now, I love it and the lack of maintenance! Life is all about the mental load and it ticks off that one thing!”Pubic Hair Styles

36. Stef, 31.

“I’m 31 and started getting full Brazilian IPL treatments when I was 22, so there is very little hair there now. I prefer bare down there because I had what I’d describe as ‘powerful’ (very coarse, thick, dark, and springy) pubes and hated them, and every other hair removal method resulted in ingrown hairs and rashes. I love having nothing there – no regrets!”Pubic Hair Styles

37. Kara, 25.

“I just prefer my pubes this way because they’re low maintenance, and I’ve never felt self-conscious about pubic hair in the slightest. I’ve never felt pressure from society, the media, or my partners about it, so I just accepted them as part of who I am and kept it au natural.”Pubic Hair Styles

“I get everything waxed off and have done for years. Hardly anything grows back now. My first husband was very against waxing and so, of course, once we broke up, I waxed away from that unhappy marriage. I guess now it’s a habit and I have a standing wax appointment every six weeks.”Pubic Hair Styles

“I prefer to have laser so that in summer, I don’t have to worry about waxing or shaving. Waxing hurts like hell and ends up costing a tonne. And shaving also hurts and grows back too quickly! I honestly couldn’t imagine having it any other way now.”Pubic Hair Styles

“When I first started dating my partner, I’d get Brazilian waxes because that’s what I thought he’d want. At the time, bald made me feel sexy, but four years later, I rock a full, untamed bush these days. Mostly out of laziness, but also, I like the way it feels like having some hair to play with. 41. Sarah, 28.

“I embrace the fuzzy fuzzies. My hair doesn’t grow out of control and stays ‘within the lines’, so now and then when I’m feeling sexy, I’ll have a bit of a trim but I WILL NEVER SHAVE AGAIN. I refuse to walk around trying to discreetly shuffle my legs together to calm the itch. I am open to the idea of waxing and laser for the bikini line, but my partner doesn’t mind my mini bush and I am completely comfortable with my fuzz, so I’m sticking with it for the foreseeable future.”Pubic Hair Styles

“I keep the tiniest little runway strip and everything else is lasered off! I actually just got a Brazilian wax the other day to get rid of the blonde and random hairs the laser can’t get to and I’m loving myself sick. If feels cleaner, sex is better and I’m weirdly obsessed with my almost bald vagina.”Pubic Hair Styles

“When I was single, I was a religious waxer – I’m talking once every six weeks (I am blessed, I hardly have any hair, down there or the armpits). But now I’m in a relationship and ‘comfortable’, boom comes the bush. I wish I could find that long-lost motivation. I still exercise and eat kind of okay, but not when it comes to the pube sitch.”

44. Loz, 39.

“I used to be a Brazilian girl, but my current squeeze prefers things more womanly, so it’s a party at the front, business at the back (i.e. a g-string wax). Pubic Hair Styles

“I’ve had them lasered. I have terrible vaginal eczema and chronic thrush, shaving, or irritating the area really makes it more itchy and uncomfortable. If I let them grow, they would irritate the sensitive skin that is already inflamed.”Pubic Hair Styles

“There was a lot of shame associated with my pubes as a result of my first boyfriend and sexual partner, he didn’t like my pubes. 1I started to shave as a result, but that became unsustainable (itchiness, bumps, etc). 2I then moved from shaving to waxing and then laser. I haven’t really looked back, but think I’ve grown to love it independent of any opinion held by my partners.”Pubic Hair Styles

“I sometimes shave mine, but I’m really time-poor, so my husband calls me his Amazonian princess when I’m wild and free. I used to wax when I was in my twenties. Now I am older, I’m more comfortable with my body and its hair now.”Pubic Hair Styles

“I have always left a ‘landing strip’ (clipper everything else) because I feel more comfortable than with no hair. It’s easy to maintain and also not itchy. In saying that, I have always felt the societal pressure to have little to no hair down there.”Pubic Hair Styles

“I get sugaring. I hadn’t heard of it before moving interstate, but I would never go back to waxing. It’s far less painful and I don’t get ingrown – it is slightly more expensive, but this pubic hair removal is actually a relaxing experience and a good option for me as I am too fair for laser.”

51. Ath, 26.

“After six or so years doing full Brazilian wax, I am now doing laser. I’ve been meaning to do it for years, but my turning point was after my last waxing lady gave me too many ingrown and was too aggressive. Laser is cheaper and quicker, I should’ve done it YEARS ago!”Pubic Hair Styles

“My hair is basically nothing, however, I’ve been a bit slack on the old laser recently so I have rogue, super-thin strands. It’s worth noting I absolutely do it for myself and not for the benefit of my boyfriend. I hate being caught short at the beach.”Pubic Hair Styles

Pubic Hair Styles- I had a full Brazilian laser about 8 years ago after paying for waxing regularly since I was in high school. I love it because I’m a bit lazy and only have touch-ups every 6 months or so. There are a couple of fair strands that come back in between treatments.
