East Meet East Raised $4m in Series A funding
For upon |East Meet East, a North America-based Asian dating website and app, raised $4m in Series A funding.
Backers included 500 Startups, Asahi Medialab Ventures, DG Lab Fund (jointly established by Digital Garage and Daiwa Securities Group), Mobile Internet Capital, Septeni Holdings and others.
The company intends to use the funds for developing its AI matching systems, expanding into Asia, launching an additional site and adding more entertainment features to the platform.
Launched in 2014 by Mariko Tokioka, CEO, East Meet East is an Asian dating service connecting Asian and Asian American singles which has matched 20,000+ partners through its matching algorithms and features that cater to the needs of the English-speaking Asian community.
The company has also announced a collaboration with “DG Lab” to launch “Love.AI,” East Meet East’s new AI matching system. The system’s algorithm will take factors such as past matches and communications into account to constantly refine how users are matched.
Further, East Meet East has recently started West East Dating (WED), an inclusive dating site for Asians and Westerners alike in Southeast Asia.
