Poster Printing: Has Coronavirus changed the way we date?
Poster Printing: For upon |There’s no getting around the fact that, when you’re not allowed to meet new people in person, the dating game can become a little bit complicated. Polling from instant print, an online poster printing specialist, reveals the extent of the change in our attitudes toward workplace romance. While 56% of respondents to a poll last year claimed that they wanted to ban office romance entirely, just 16% would say the same thing today. Poster Printing.
The polling threw up another few interesting results. 13% of us admitted to having romantic dreams about our managers (and, you might assume, a good few had the same dreams but were unwilling to fess up to them). Perhaps it’s something to do with protracted isolation that’s driving us to distraction. Poster Printing.
Dating, as you might suspect, has been thoroughly digitized: 16% of those polled reported meeting their partner online, compared with just 10% a year before.
Is it better to reject someone in person?
If you’re going to turn someone away, according to the survey, it’s still best to do it in person. 58% prefer to be spurned face-to-face than over the internet. Yes, it might be a little more painful for the person on the receiving end – but it’s nowhere near as bad as getting a text-based rejection. Poster Printing.
How do people prefer to ask someone out?
Finding the right opportunity to ask someone out can be difficult at the best of times. Sending someone a message on social media, you might think, is a little bit impersonal and, dare we say it, lame.
In the age of Covid-19, however, the rulebook’s been dispensed with. 55% of those asked reported that they’d prefer to ask someone out via social media. Video-conferencing platforms came in a close second, with Zoom, and Skype sitting on 23% and 13% respectively. Poster Printing.
What can I do?
So how exactly do you go for a date in the current environment?
Dinner over Zoom
A dinner date is a classic way to get acquainted. Try to cook something for yourself – that way you’ll have something to chat about. But don’t go for anything too messy – remember that someone’s going to be looking right at you, even if you feel like you’re alone in the room.
Gaming online
If you’re both gamers, then it might be best to interact in a virtual environment. Adventure games like Sea of Thieves, where you’re running (and sailing) around the world and doing largely as you please, make a great match. Don’t go for anything too intense and competitive. Poster Printing.
Cook-off
Food is a gift that should be shared. Unfortunately, doing so isn’t always easy when you’re locked down. That’s what makes a digital cook-off worthwhile. Set up your cameras somewhere where you can both see what you’re putting into the pot. And then compare results toward the end. Poster Printing.
Whatever you’re doing, have an exit strategy. If the date isn’t going well, you can literally bail at any time, for a whole range of reasons. Think of one in advance!
