Marcus Willoughby Maniac Magee book report
Maniac Episodes: For Upon |“Maniac Magee” by Jerry Spinelli tells the story of a boy, a legend who has lost everything. “Maniac Magee” is not just any book or story it is a lesson of life. Whether you are big or small, young or old, there is always something that a reader can learn from the characters in this historic story.
“Maniac Magee” takes place in Two Miles (a fictional town in Pennsylvania) during the U.S.A.’s segregated times. Segregation has caused both the town and its people to split down Hector Street, blacks on the east, whites on the west. Jeffrey (Maniac Magee) was born into a white family. Maniac’s parents loved him and cared for him until her untimely death when he was 6 years old. Sadly Maniac’s parents were not the only loss he would experience. Maniac understood both sides of segregation, the east with the Mars Bars and the Beals, the west with the McNabs and Grayson. After his parent’s death, he went to his aunt and uncle Dot, and though he loved them dearly he ran away. The Dots loved him and he loved them, but unfortunately, they did not love each other.
Jeffrey’s uncle and aunt’s dislike grew and grew to the point where they needed two of everything and spent their time separately, but there was only one Maniac so he ran away. Maniac kept running for a year, he became a legend. Maniac was alone and free, he could beat the best ballplayers and save kids from bullies until he met the Beals. The Beals were a loving and caring family, they were perfect…but they were black, unlike Jeffery who was white. While neither the Beals nor Magee cared what the neighbors did, the east end attacked him, bullied him, and wrote over their house with paint, they treated him and the Beals like it was a criminal act for whites and blacks to live together. So Maniac was on the run again, running to save him and the Beals from others’ hatred.
Maniac lived homeless in a zoo until he was found by his next friend and family, Earl Grayson. In Grayson and Maniac’s time together they grew closer and closer, like father and son they were a family. Jeffrey never received an education so Grayson thought him the importance of it and how it affected him. Grayson was both a teacher and a father to Maniac when he met his sad and untimely death. Maniac was back on the run and without a place to call home. Though Maniac lived with many different families none were as unforgettable as the Mcnabs. The McNabs were torn apart and fueled by hatred and anger for each other and the Eastenders.
As the book goes on, Jeffery lives with more and more families, each family showing the problems and life lessons the author has to offer. Through the Dots, he learned about divorce and its effect, with the Beals Jeffrey, learned about racism and segregation, thanks to Grayson Maniac learned about education and problems with lack of it, in Jeffery’s time with the McNabs he was taught about lack of money, drunk parents and poor situations and hate. Maniac Episodes. Jeffrey’s experiences with the many families he lived with are not only relatable and true to life but make an amazing story plot.
“Maniac Magee” not only teaches students and readers about the importance of family but about the problems in the world. “Maniac Magee” is the perfect school book read. It is not only an engaging, tight plot that will draw in readers of all ages, the book is full of descriptive, realistic, and relatable characters who change along with the plot of the story. The story teaches readers about the real world and its problems. “Maniac Magee” is a great school teacher read-aloud or personal story for anyone learning about segregation and racism, homelessness, or lack of education. There is always something to learn from “Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli”. On your next visit to the local library or bookstore pick up “Maniac Magee.”

Maniac Magee
This book was about Jeffrey Magee, a kid who ran away, having adventures with people he encounters in a racist town.
I liked this book and didn’t really like this book. I didn’t like this book for only one reason. His nickname was Maniac Magee which would probably mean that he did crazy events. He didn’t do things that I found crazy.
People might’ve thought that this book actually happened. It was realistic to the time it was set in. The plot and the characters were also very realistic. It also had excellent similes.
I liked that despite Mars Bar’s and Maniac’s differences, they were still friends. Even though Mars Bar thought that blacks and whites couldn’t be friends or talk to each other, he still became friends with a white person. Maniac helped him realize that most whites aren’t bad.
Grayson was the only kind of realistic to me because there wasn’t really that kind of typical person. He was original to the book because he was a break from the racism that was happening where the Beales lived. With Grayson, it was like their own little world with no one else to interrupt.
The McNabs added the balance to the book. The Beales didn’t care what skin color you had, Grayson never cared about racism or needed to think about it, and the McNabs were very racist.

Maniac Magee was written by Jerry Spinelli and was honored with the John Newbery Medal for how good it was. 1Maniac Magee is a heartwarming book about a boy named Jeffrey Magee. I think it was a very good book because it’s funny and sometimes cheesy. It also shows how racism is bad and how everyone is the same. Plus they show how you can’t judge people by how they look and how they seem. I would rate this book four stars and probably would say something like “It never gets boring”. The theme of this book is racism and I would suggest it for people who like a bit of comedy but are still serious. Maniac has friends that both have different skin colors and it gets really interesting sometimes.

Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli was a fantastic, message-filled book. Maniac Magee is incredible, and a book that everyone should read.
First of all, it tells a great story of friendship. At first Mars Bar and Maniac don’t get along at all. Mars Bar was a black boy, and Maniac was a white boy. Mars Bar always called Maniac a fish belly. They both hated each other. Later on in the book, Mars Bar challenges Maniac to a race. Maniac runs backward and still beats Mars Bar. Mars Bar hates Maniac for showing off and making Mars Bar as slow as a snail. They really hate each other for most of the book. With a series of events, Mars Bar starts becoming friends with Maniac in the end. He invites him to his house even! Maniac refuses, because every single time someone looks after him, something goes wrong. He didn’t want to hurt Mars Bar. Soon after Maniac refuses, a girl named Amanda Beale,
Orders him to come to stay with her and go over to Mars Bars’ house occasionally. Maniac replies yes. This time, someone actually wants him to come home. Also, another great story of friendship in this book is when Maniac meets Amanda Beale. The first day he arrives in Two Mills, he pleads with Amanda for a book to read. She says yes. She later invites him over to her house. When Mr. Beale is taking Maniac home, Maniac lies and says he lives in another house. It was filled with black children. Mr. Beale coaxed the truth out of Maniac. That same night, he took Maniac in. They accepted Maniac as a member of the family. When Maniac stays with them, he loves all of his new “siblings.” Hester and Lester, and Amanda. Overall, Maniac Magee has great friendship messages in it.
Secondly, I love this book, because of all the emotions and real feelings. It is so sad, the book. It is so unpredictable. Just when you think Maniac is having a great life, and all settled in. When he was three years old, he was separated from his parents. This, of course, is so sad, but a good book has lots of emotions and problems. This book certainly does. After his parents died from the P&W trolley crash, he went to his Aunt Dot and Uncle Dan. They both hated each other, but wouldn’t divorce since they were strict Catholics. He then ran away, because he couldn’t take it any longer. Then he went to Two Mills. He found the Beales.
When someone wrote Fishbelly on their door, Maniac didn’t want the Beales getting hurt. Then he goes and finds Grayson. Grayson dies, so he is homeless. Maniac is homeless, but he finds Russell and Piper McNab. In McNab’s house, they are racist, so Maniac leaves. This book is like a roller coaster with all of the ups and downs. 1It is so enjoyable. 2It really leaves you pondering and questioning what will happen next. It was spectacular. The whole emotions captured my and many others’ hearts. I would definitely read it again.
Overall, Maniac is a great story with so many messages and things that I love. It leaves you questioning, and thinking a lot deeper before you picked up the book. I hope that everyone reads it. It was a book that I truly loved.

Maniac Magee By Jerry Spinelli
Maniac Magee was a great all-around book it was intensely happy and sad. 1The characters have raw feelings and emotions, and some of the characters dislike each other and have major conflicts, for example, The main character Maniac has many people who don’t like him at all. but on the other hand, some of the characters have amazing friendships. The characters in this amazing book can easily be woven into the real world. 2The characters can teach many lessons for example they can show that if you don’t like someone at first they can turn out to be amazing friends in the end so never judge a book by its cover and always give your not-so-good friends a second chance and they won’t seem so bad.
In this book, Maniac is always suffering terrible losses. He lost almost all the people that he loved some from Death some from racism, and some just because he couldn’t stand them. For some of his life, he was living in a zoo with the animals, and sometimes we didn’t even know where he was living. Some of his losses are not permanent some of them are but through all of this maniac shows perseverance, and that is why I think that perseverance is one of the biggest lessons that this book can teach you.
This book has three major conflicts the first one is man v.s society which is racism this book’s example is that it, is placed in two mills but two very different parts because it is split into east and west, and if the maniac is wandering in the east then people would be much more meaningful than if he was wandering in the west end. This is because of one of the biggest problems in the book Racism, this problem majorly affects maniacs because even though he is surrounded by racism he doesn’t see the difference in skin color and doesn’t care if someone is black or white. Maniac Episodes.
Another problem in this book is man vs man in this book the example is bullying. For Maniac, there are 2 major bullies one is white and doesn’t like him because Maniac is much better than him he has a gang and they chase maniacs. the other big bully doesn’t like maniac simply because the maniac is white and he is black. and these two bullies seem very mean to the maniac but in time he will find out why the white bully is so mean and cruel-hearted. The black bully may not be as bad as the maniac thinks at first.
The last problem in this book is man v.s nature how this applies is that for quite some time maniac’s only home is the buffalo pen in the zoo this is a problem because the pen is not roofed or completely sealed and nature brings him unpleasant surprises like thundershowers mud and many other terrible weather conditions. Maniac Episodes. Also, a rock does not provide such a good pillow to sleep on. And as if all of this isn’t enough he still has many tough decisions to make that could be dangerous. I hope that this report inspired you to read the book “Maniac Magee By Jerry Spinelli” to find out more.

Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli (Ethan)
Maniac Magee was a fantastic book because it had many twists and turns and taught me a great lesson about racism. I loved how you got to know so many characters and then something really important happens to them and then my view of the character completely changes. I have learned many important lessons from this wonderful book. It taught me about racism and the impact it has on the community. I think the theme is very true to life because segregation happened for decades. It has happened much less since Martin Luther King Jr but still sometimes happens. I personally would be perfectly fine living in Two Mills because there are a couple of means of citizens but many kinds and generous people too.
So living in the environment the characters live in would be totally okay with me. I thought the plot was clever and was nothing short of amazing. 1I think the characters in this book were very relatable to many people including me. 2I thought it was awesome how the author made all the characters relatable. In my opinion, this book was eye-opening and taught me a lot about racism and all the ways it can affect someone in a monumental way. So I would recommend this book to anyone who is a fantastic reader. I am so happy I read this book because it changes the way I think about racism.

Maniac Magee: By Sophia
Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli has the best message of the books that I’ve read by far. It sends a very important message about racism, ignorance, homelessness, and neglect. It makes people think about how tough our life would have been when there was such strong segregation against black people. How black people back then did not have it easy at all. What black people had to go through and fight through just for freedom and to be able to go to the same schools and live in the same neighborhoods?
In the beginning, it talks about how much neglect and homelessness he went through. It shows how strong children can be, and how much they can do and go through. He went to multiple houses and had to leave all of them because of racism and ignorance. He tried to live in 5 places, some places not even real homes. This story spreads awareness to people that don’t know the types of things that are still even happening nowadays. It spreads awareness about racism, homelessness, ignorance, and lack of education. It makes people really think about how lucky they are because in this world there are many people starving on the streets with no food or a proper home,
They don’t have a shelter to stay in when it rains, snows, or when it’s scorching hot outside, or when it’s so freezing and they don’t have a blanket or a warm fire to stay warm. We are very lucky that we have roof’s over our heads and families that love us, and we have friends, to be able to learn how to read. We’re all so lucky and some don’t even realize how fortunate they are. Personally, this book has really opened my eyes showing me what it’s like for some people. I’ve always known about the things that some people go through, but this gave me more of a reason to be so thankful to have a home and a loving family.
Some people are completely oblivious to the things that are happening all around the world. Maniac was one of those people, he had no idea that people are as racist as they really are. He was unaware of the problem and when he found out he actually did something about it. He changed the lives of Two Mills, Pennsylvania. I think it was so cruel the way that some of the people acted when he met them. There were two sides of Two Mills, the East End, and the West End separated by a street called Hector. 1He didn’t understand why the white people and the black people never crossed over Hector Street. 2He made friends on each side and he pulled them together and showed the people how amazing each side can really be.
He went through heartache and loss yet still went on trying to make things right. This book can really encourage kids and help them realize it doesn’t matter what color their skin is. Even adults that may not be unaware of these things can learn a thing or two about how terrible it was. Young white kids and black kids even, hatred filling them whenever they see someone from the other side, someone they’d never met. People are so judgemental that they can’t even see the whole picture, they can’t see how amazing they could be. Kids then grew up thinking that the kids and people from the other side were all rotten and dangerous. When really both sides were wrong, both sides were all amazing people but didn’t realize the others were just like them.

Maniac Magee Book Review Colin
I think that this book is 4.5 out of 5 stars. I think it is that good because you never know what will or will not happen next. In the beginning, his parents die on P&W trolly. Which is a trolly that is in their area. Then, he goes to his Uncle Dan and Aunt Dot’s house where they have 2 of everything. He gets bored of having two of everything, so after a few years, he runs away. And stays with this African-American family on the East end of a town in Pennsylvania called Two Mills.
The family that he stays with is very kind. But because Maniac is not African-American. Someone kicks him out and calls him fish belly. Then, sadly, he lives with nobody but the Buffalo at the zoo’s house. He moves in with a person named Grayson. Maniac teaches him how to read. But sadly, he dies. So next, he meets these two kids named Russel and Piper McNabb. So then he moves into their house. Which is the wrong place for him because the kids drink beer, and are racist. Will he be okay? What will he do next?

Maniac Magee 1 page review: By Andrea
Maniac Magee is a very good book. It is detailed from start to finish. to getting friends to lose them, happy, sad, scared, cold, hopeless, mad, afraid, hungry, depressed. Maniac Episodes. Maniac Magee is a very powerful and moving book. It is amazing what this one boy is going through. His parents died he ran away from his aunt and uncle because they didn’t love each other. This setting was based a long time ago when there was a whole lot of racism. Maniac did not know about the East End and the West End, so he went over there and didn’t know what was going on, these people took him in over there and started treating him like family. He took baths with the little ones and played with the older ones and the little ones.
Maniac had his own room to sleep in, but most importantly he had an address to call his own. I loved this in the story because it was like home for Maniac. Then he ran away because of bullying by other people, so he went back to the West End. Maniac met a person named Grayson who was old but took him in as a son. I was very happy. These are some of the reasons why I love this book so much. Maniac Magee is just so touching and it makes your emotions feel like a rollercoaster. Something happens and Maniac Magee is going through the whole process again. I was so sad when this happened it just came out of nowhere and then all of a sudden Maniac started feeling hopeless.
Then I started feeling so sad for him but I just needed to read more and more until I finished so that then I would be able to see what is going to happen with Maniac. Then Maniac started to want to just die and get his sad and miserable life over with. At that point, I was like Noooooooo Maniac you got this you will find a family someday. Next Maniac started thinking he shouldn’t try to find a new family to take care of him, he thought every time he went into someone’s house and then they started taking care of him something bad would always happen.
I love the book Maniac Magee and it is just a motivating book to where you feel like hey I want to do something nice right now. There are so many surprises in this book that there are more than you can even count. This is why I think you should read the book, Maniac Magee because it is just an amazing book that you would really like if you read it.

Maniac Magee By Jerry Spinelli by Jose Ponce De Leon
After reading Maniac Magee, it has been an amazing book, I’ve never read anything better than this great book. It has taught me how just a drop of kindness affects
After reading Maniac Magee, it has been an amazing book, I’ve never read anything better than this great book. It has taught me how just a drop of kindness affects someone’s life. Anyways, this book takes place in the United States of America when segregation was still going on. When Jeffrey Magee was a kid, his parents died on a trolley, because of a drunk driver, then he went to move in with his Aunt Dot and Uncle Dan’s house, but they didn’t really have the best relationship with each other, once Jeffrey moves in, his Uncle and Aunt needed two of basically everything!
Soon, Jeffery embarrasses himself in front of a crowd and runs away to the east end. Some of the characters in the book are Mars Bar Thompson who is from the east end, there is Amanda Beale that welcomes Jeffrey to her house, Earl Grayson which is an old man that becomes his best friend forever, Piper McNab, Russell McNab, John McNab, and Mr.McNab which are rude, mean, and racist jerks they are west enders by the way. Some people in this book are nice kind people, but others are just rude people that believe that racism is funny.
Now, I would like to talk about Mars Bar Thompson. He was a very rude guy to Jeffrey and called him names just because he was white, but why? In the beginning, I thought that Mars Bar was just being rude to get Jeffrey Magee out of his way, but Jeffrey wouldn’t let Mars Bar kick him out of the way, but then everyone in my class started seeing the good in him, and he suddenly started being nice. I have a very strong feeling of why back then different colored skin people is that they were rude because both sides thought they would get hurt if they let other people inside, blacks and whites will get hurt. Maniac Episodes. Jeffrey or Maniac, has evolved through the book very quickly in like a year.
He started to believe that there was good inside everyone. He started to believe he had a family everywhere. And he believed that everyone everywhere should see what he sees in people, but sadly some people don’t see what he sees. The author I thought was very smart in writing this book because he also saw what Maniac saw, I think that the author was trying to change other people’s points of view about racism and that it’s not just a joke. Jerry Spinelli (the author) created this book to change peopleś’s points of view on racism, bullying, friendships, responsibility, and joy. 1I really loved this book because it was really amazing to read about how people can change. I recommend this book to any person out there that believes that everyone should be treated equally and believes in kindness. I hope you liked this book review.

Maniac Magee book review.
Maniac Magee is a deep book filled with information that all ages can get. Although some of the plots were kind of meh sometimes it does not take away from the suspense and info. This book teaches you what causes racism and how to stop it. It is by far one of my favorite books. You should read this because of 3 things, The characters, the plot, and the information you gather page after page after page. I have a very picky taste when it comes to reading and this book is for anyone who wants to find a good book.
Whether or not you are looking for an old type of book or a nice chapter book this can be read by anyone of all ages. The book Simplified is about a kid named Jeffrey who has a very crummy life. His parents die in the P and W Trolley crash incident. He then had to live with his aunt and uncle. The couple absolutely despised each other but since they were strong Christians they did not get a divorce and were legally still married in the same house. Jeffrey got affected by this the most. Maniac Episodes. The couple absolutely loves him but they hated each other.
He got so mad that at one point very early in the story he could not handle it and just ran away with his last words being “TALK WON’T YA! JUST TALK”. And left without a trace. The book is brilliant it has everything you need, a good storyline, great characters, and most importantly suspense! You’re never gonna know what will happen and won’t be able to predict what happens. There are tons of spots in the story that you won’t believe happen.
The characters are another major importance in a book and these characters are amazing. There are so many characters in this book and they all are very unpredictable. If you want a book with good characters then this one is the one for you. The good things about this book are most things they talk about are in detail. For example, “The man’s face appeared to be a light brown color with old ragged shoes,” things like that.
In conclusion, I feel that reading this book will change your life and reshape the way that you look at the world, especially at a young age. Learning this stuff in a fun way is always a good way to teach. All in all, if you read this book you will definitely love it.

Maniac Magee book review
I think that Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli was an all-over pretty good book. But I think that It has some Flaws. Number one, I feel that the plot was a little easy to predict because everyone that maniac Got attached to eventually died, He left, or they hated him. I also felt like the story was bouncing all over the place because one second he was in the zoo and the next his in some baseball bandshell with a stranger! Who lets a stranger take them somewhere? I also think that Maniac was Putting himself In bad situations. For example, Maniac could have stayed at the Beales but instead, he CHOSE to leave them and try and get lucky and find another Stranger who will let him stay in their house.
Although Maniac Magee had some flaws It also had some good parts. For example, I liked that This was A realistic book adit really shows you the problems that were in our world back then and right now. Some of those problems include Racism, Homelessness, stereotypes, and ignorance. I also liked the idea of Maniac being a kid on the run and there was action in every part of the story. This book was one of my favorite books that I have read because it was a fun book to read in general.
I also liked it because our teacher sometimes would stop reading and explain a topic and get us fired up about the topic. Maniac Episodes. Our teacher also read the book in different voices for each character which was funny sometimes. This book was different than most other books because at one point the book would be happy and joyful and at another point, it would be sad.
I think that the author Jerry Spinelli did a great job of trying to tell us about different themes in the story I also think that he did a great job at making the book like what it was like to live back then with all the segregation and racism in America as a country.
Maniac Magee was a great book and I recommend it to teachers with kids in 3rd grade and up because there agree a couple of parts in the book might be a little mature for some kids.

Maniac Magee Book Review
The book Maniac Magee sends a very strong and clear message to everyone who reads it, I think that the most powerful message in the book is racism, even though everyone thinks that racism has come and gone it hasn´t and it still exists now. Maniac Magee showed how bad segregation was then, and that it should not exist in humanity. This book would be a good book to help kids understand our problems in the world, and how ignorant our humanity can be. 1This book would also be good for a read-aloud if you’re a teacher because this book teaches kids lessons, and it is a fun book. 2This book really affected me in a good manner, by really sending a message about, Racism, Segregation, homelessness, lack of education, neglect, stereotyping, and ignorance.
This book would be good if your trying to teach someone about how you should not follow in the path of any of these themes, but if there is another big point besides the ones that I have stated, then this book may not be what you’re looking for. Overall this is a very good book and it really sends the point that Racism, Segregation, homelessness, lack of education, neglect, stereotyping, and ignorance are all bad, and don’t deserve a place in our world.

Maniac Magee Book Review
Maniac Magee is life-changing. 1Maniac Magee is perspective-changing. My class has recently finished the book Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli. It is about an eleven-year-old boy named Jeffrey Magee. If you are wondering why his name is also Maniac, it is because one day he was at a school concert and all of a sudden he started screaming. That’s when a legend was born.
Jeffrey lost his parents when he was very young. He had to stay with his Aunt Dot and Uncle Dan. They loved Jeffrey but hated each other. He ran away. Jeffrey stayed with a black family, which to other people sounded unbelievable. He became a legend, a household name. After a while he couldn’t stay with the blacks, so he stayed at the zoo. A man found him and they became family until loss struck him again. He didn’t have anywhere to sleep. Homelessness grabbed him and threw him wherever. After that, he went to his “friends” house and didn’t like what they were doing so he left and went back to the zoo. You might think that after his parent’s death, he would be moving on and he would be alright again. No that’s not how the story goes.
Jeffrey Magee goes through a lot of love, loss, and hate. His parents died when he was very young and he tries to find a home with people who will love him and care for him like no one else. That’s what he got. Not all though. All different. Some aren’t especially nice to him but they all teach him a very big lesson. Everyone is different, Nobody is perfect, and never give up. Even when times are extremely hard.
I think the author wrote this book because everyone needs to know what homeless people are going through right now. Those people aren’t only who you think they are. Jeffrey Magee is an eleven-year-old boy whose life has a lot of twists and turns. There are people like this who are neglected and are just trying to get by, like Jeffrey.
Maniac Magee was a good book but it wasn’t my favorite. I didn’t like it because the plots were very sudden. He leaves and then suddenly he’s just at the zoo, pretending nothing ever happened. If there was more of a transitional chapter in between each plot, the book would have sounded better.
I think everyone should read this book because it changes how you see things. It makes you realize that there are people like Jeffrey who are going through this right now. Maniac Magee is a must-read book.
I hope you liked this book review. Let me know what you think. Before you do that, go read Maniac Magee. This is Marie signing off.

Maniac Magee book review
The book Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli, in my opinion, was a decent book. There were flaws but there were also parts that I enjoyed. In my time of reading, I have indeed found books like Maniac Magee, books that have themes of Racism, Lack of education, or loss. One thing though that I really enjoyed from the book is that you always know that Jeffrey will get back up and find new things so there is always that sense of hope. In this book, Jeffrey has experienced much loss in my opinion that is a common story plot but one thing that is not common is that Maniac was homeless and wasn’t in foster care.
Some things that I didn’t like about the book were that you knew that once he found someone by the next part of the book they would be irrelevant like the Beale or Jeffrey’s parents another thing that I was not quite fond of was the fact that he never told anyone what his name was.
Something that I just adored was when Jeffrey and Mars Bar ran with each other every day. I think that this book has a lot of awareness about loss, divorce, and racism and how hard it is on people. In this book, Jeffrey experiences every parent’s nightmare I mean he ran away and lived with strangers and animals.
I think for sure Jeffrey could have gone back to Dot and Dan but since that day of the concert and them just not ever getting along it was no surprise that he wasn’t happy, and that is why I think he never wanted to go to school because it reminded him of Dot and Dan. On behalf of Grayson’s death Jeffrey’s actions were cute but terrifying why would you want to stay with someone’s dead body for a whole day? I think it would have warmed many people’s hearts if they saw Grayson with Maniac with their Butterscotch Krimpets walking down the street.
It was super sad when Grayson died I mean though I would have definitely guessed that it would happen because when the author was describing Grayson he always said the old man. If you saw this book in a store You should definitely grab this book and read it, especially with the heartwarming ending with Jeffrey going back to the Beale’s, Even though Maniac Magee was not my favorite book it still was a book worth reading

Maniac Magee Book Review
I personally love the book, Maniac Magee. It is a great book for anybody to read. The book is about racism, homelessness, ignorance, white supremacy, lack of education, and many more issues. It is a great story and shows what the world was like when segregation existed. Sadly, this still goes on today. Teachers should read this book because it teaches kids about segregation and racism. It also teaches them life lessons about that you should treat everyone the same, no matter the color of their skin, or how they look.
The characters in this book are very similar to a lot of people we have in the world today. It took place around the ’60s. I liked this book a lot because it shows how you can just stay down, you have to be able to come back, and not care what other people think about you. The town in Maniac Magee is a segregated place, with an East End, and a West End. African Americans live in the East End, while Caucasians live in the West End. The East End and the West End both hate each other. They both think that they are the worst kinds of people in the world. In the West End people are very ignorant, and so are the people in the East End.

Maniac Magee Book Review
Maniac Magee was a great book and the emotions you feel in the book are only one of the many ways you connect with the characters. Jeffrey experienced extreme heartache and the adventures he went on made this amazing story even better. The story had a lot of themes but to be one of the most important ones was love.
The book is placed somewhere around the 1960s because that was one of the main segregation times. In the book, the author gives a great point of view from both the East End and the West End (the blacks and the whites) where Jerry Spinelli shows the point of what it was really like living back then. He also shows what you would think if you were living back then and didn’t know any better than what you thought.
When you read this book sometimes the book is predictable and sometimes not so much. You can easily fall into the book and get engaged in it. It’s a story to read aloud or read quietly to yourself.
The characters seem so real because they are going through some of the problems we still have today. The characters can change but it’s so cool when they somehow tie together in the end.
The setting is really cool and it would be a place I would want to live if there wasn’t segregation. The way the book described it, both the East End and the West End sounded beautiful and it would be a place I would love to visit and to live.
One of the things I love, most about the book is the cliffhangers. There are a lot of cliffhangers at the end of some of the chapters. When there are cliffhangers it makes me want to stop reading the book and read it again later just so that I can have a surprise.
This is a great book and I loved it so much! It was one of the best realistic fiction books I have ever read and I want everyone to read it! I hope that if someone does read it they enjoy it and love it as much as I did!

Maniac Magee Book Review
I liked this book a lot because it was interesting to read and you never know what will happen next. You never knew where Jeffrey was going to do or where he was going to go. He would run all over the place so there was no real setting. It was a realistic fiction book so these things could happen. It was at the time of segregation so it really gives you a sense of what it was like to live back then. Jerry Spinelli did a great job writing Maniac Magee. This book takes place in the time of segregation so the characters aren’t very relatable with some of the struggles that they are in. But you should definitely pick up this book. It can get intense but it is still fun to read. Once you pick up this book you won’t be able to put it back down.
Maniac Magee is a heartwarming sad and humorous story. It’s one of the best stories that I have ever read in my life. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone in 4th grade and up. It is definitely too intense for 2nd grade but some 3rd graders might get it but I wouldn’t recommend the book to that particular age group. But the plot really draws you in. There isn’t really a specific plot because he’s always running off because of some reason or the other. So, that really makes you want to know- what is Maniac going to do next? If you have access to a copy of this book then I would really recommend pulling it out and reading it. So, overall I would consider the book Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli a home run!

Book Review Maniac Magee
The book Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli changed my life forever. The book taught me things I never even knew were going on. It also had a lot of themes. Like segregation, racism, and even death/loss. It might just have been one of the best books I have ever read. I liked the characters a lot and they all had a thing to be known by. I recommend this book for ages 9-12. Maniac Magee is a learning experience and it is very suspenseful.
It is a fun book and some of the characters can be a bit weird. It has all the fun and suspense you would want. Maniac can at times get a bit nieve but all is well in the end. Sometimes he should think before acting and doesn’t but he is brave and fearless. He is fun and he experiences some hard times. And some people he may lose but he is always ready for the next adventure to begin. He has a lot of adventures and some of them turn out well but some don’t. You should really read this book because it is an awesome book and it is my absolute favorite book.
This author added some moments that without notice just happen. You never know what’s going to happen next. It’s like every page leaves you hanging off a cliff and you can’t get up and off the cliff unless you read more. It’s like a trap. Once you start reading this book you can’t stop. You have to finish as the original Jumanji. It reels you in too far and you can’t get reeled out. It is a super good book and everyone should read it because it is a fun good book. That’s why you should read this book.
