The best WordPress landing page plugins in 2018
We’ll start off by looking at the top plugins and what they’re capable of.
1. Thrive Architect
Thrive Architect is a page builder plugin that comes with a drag & drop editor and a large selection of landing page templates.
Due to the functionality of the drag & drop editor, you can customize almost any aspect of a landing page.
You can choose to start from scratch or choose from one of over 140 templates.
Now, the problem with most plugins of this type is that you get a great selection of templates. But you soon realize that they aren’t consistent.
Let’s say you have an opt-in form page, then you need to send subscribers to a thank you page, finally a confirmation page.
But they all look different and feel disjointed.
Well, that’s how most plugins work – but not Thrive Architect.
Their landing pages are designed in sets to ensure your visitors get a consistent experience – throughout your entire sales funnel.
We’re talking about squeeze pages, sales pages, thank you pages, confirmation pages, webinar pages and more.
You also get access to themed sets too. For example, there’s an entire landing page set dedicated to webinars. Another for podcasts, and another for online courses.
You’ll find a lot of templates come with 2 step opt-in forms. You can even editor both posts, and pages.
And it’s actively maintained so you can rest easy in the knowledge that new features & templates will be added. For example, when I first started using this plugin it only had a handful of templates, now it has 260+.
Features:
- 260+ templates.
- Full width layouts – no matter which theme you use.
- Create custom page layouts within the confines of your theme, or start from a completely blank page.
- Customize almost every aspect of your landing pages.
- Undo and redo functionality.
- Designed with speed in mind.
- Plenty of conversion focused elements to add to your landing pages.
- Supports external shortcodes within the editor.
- Edit both pages and posts.
- Editor loads fast which makes customization straight forward.
- “What you see is what you get” style editor makes customization easy.
Price: $67 for lifetime updates and 1 year of support. Or purchase their membership plan to unlock all of their plugins and themes.

Good news! There is a new add-on for this plugin called Thrive Optimize. It’s a split-testing plugin that allows you to test different versions of your pages against each other, so you can boost conversions.
If you want more sales, or email subscribers – split testing is critical.
You can get both plugins bundled together by visiting this page. If you get their membership plan, this will be included too.
2. OptimizePress
OptimizePress has been a popular option in the landing page space for a while now.
In fact, the original version was the first landing page creation tool I ever bought. And it’s come a long way since.
Included in the bundle, you get a theme, a plugin and a membership plugin.
Ok, so there are better membership plugins on the market, but you get it regardless.
The selection of templates available for OptimizePress look great, and you can do a lot of cool things with the drag & drop editor.
In fact, the first thing I built with this plugin were the sales pages for a marketing agency I used to work for. And they looked great.
I also created squeeze pages and sales pages for clients – OptimizePress offered up pages that looked like a pro had designed them. But it was just me. And I’m no designer!
As much as I like this plugin, I do have an issue with it; bloat. At the time of writing, the plugin file was around 29mb. For a plugin, that’s a lot.
Yes, it does a heck of a lot and they have made speed improvements to the editor, but it still feels a bit too heavy.
Features:
- Plenty of page templates available.
- Access to the Optimize Marketplace where you can find extra templates. This includes both free and paid templates.
- Advanced editor which allows for granular customization.
- Theme and plugin version available.
- Comes with a membership plugin (it’s based on the S2 member plugin with some tweaks).
- Large selection of elements you can add to your landing pages.
- 2-step opt-in functionality.
Price: $97 for 1 year of support & core updates.

3. Leadpages
Leadpages is much more than just a WordPress plugin. It’s a landing page creation platform so you’re not restricted to using this with WordPress websites.
It has a drag & drop editor, hosts your pages on it’s own servers, handles delivery of digital assets and more.
You can choose to push the page directly to your WordPress website, via the Leadpages plugin. Or you can download a HTML page for use with any other platform.
The main challenge I faced with Leadpages in the past was customization. You could only tweak certain elements.
But, now they have a great drag & drop page builder which allows for a lot more customization. Awesome!
You can create unlimited landing pages and use them on unlimited websites – or, host them all via Leadpages. Then you can view them all from a single dashboard.
Unlike some other SaaS landing page platforms, they don’t charge you by the amount of traffic you get.
And you can use the Leadboxes feature to add clickable popovers to your content. They work great for content upgrades and you can use them on any domain (even in guest posts on other people’s websites).
There are a few things I’m not so keen on with Leadpages:
Firstly, it’s expensive in comparison – If you want something more affordable, go with Thrive Architect instead. But it offers a lot of functionality all in one place which can be a time saver. Ultimately, you have to be able to justify the cost.
If you get Leadpages, consider going for a Pro account so you get the built-in split-testing feature.
By running tests you’ll be able to boost conversions, and that means more subscribers and/or customers for you.
Alternatively, you could use a free tool like Google Optimize to run split tests. It’s a free tool but it’s not as straight forward since you’d have to hook two tools together.
Features:
- Get an easy birds-eye view of all your landing pages.
- Hosts landing pages via Leadpages servers which can reduce load on your hosting environment.
- Template marketplace giving you access to a huge selection of extra templates (payment required).
- Split testing functionality (only on Pro & Advanced plans).
- Simple landing page editor.
- New drag & drop page builder with some new templates that weren’t available with their standard page builder.
- Leadlinks feature allows people to join your list by clicking a single link (only on Pro & Advanced plans).
- Leaddigits feature allows people to join your list via text messages (only on Pro & Advanced plans).
- Sub-accounts available on Advanced plans.
Price: Starts from $25/month (paid annually) or $37/month for a standard plan.

4. Beaver Builder
Beaver Builder is primarily a drag & drop page building plugin that also works as a landing page builder.
Using it’s front-end visual editor, you can craft eye-catching custom page layouts without any fuss.
The editor itself feels smooth and lightweight – it doesn’t hang while saving.
Included are 30 landing page templates that look stunning.
But there is a sticking point:
To create true distraction-free landing pages, you need to use their theme. Which gives you the ability to create true full-width elements and remove the header/footer.
And their theme is quite basic, although they mentioned in a blog post that they’ll be making improvements to it.
That’s my only issue.
There are some easy-to-miss features in the editor – for example, you can choose to hide certain modules (e.g. text boxes).
You can choose to hide them based on the device people are using, or whether they’re logged in or not.
You can add any of your WordPress widgets directly into your pages, along with opt-in forms, buttons, contact forms and a lot more.
You can save your own templates to speed up page creation, and create your own row/module templates. There’s a lot possible with this plugin.
There is a free version of this plugin available but it’s heavily limited. For example, opt-in forms and templates aren’t available.
Features:
- Easy to use visual editor.
- Large selection of elements means you can create a large variety of.
- 30 eye-catching landing page templates included.
- Various content page templates for team pages, contact pages, portfolio pages and more.
- Build custom page layouts.
- Helpful page templating feature saves time.
- Advanced options like parallax scrolling backgrounds.
- Integrates with popular email providers via API (unfortunately no custom HTML option).
- Hide modules depending on device being used to view it.
- Visibility control over certain modules (e.g. hide a text box unless a user is logged in).
- Use with posts, pages and custom post types.
- Icon support for Font Awesome, Foundation Icons and WordPress Dashicons (or upload your own).
Price: $97+

5. Coming Soon Pro by SeedProd
Coming Soon Pro isn’t like any other plugin on this list.
It doesn’t come with a drag & drop editor, in fact it doesn’t come with a visual editor of any sorts.
And it doesn’t have an abundance of templates.
But it’s designed to handle one type of landing page and it does it brilliantly.
If you find yourself launching a new website, and want a coming soon page to capture email addresses – Coming Soon Pro works great.
What’s different about how this plugin handles coming soon pages is how it stops the rest of your site being accessed.
You can still allow people to view it if you want them to. For example, logged in users can access your site by default. But you can give a special URL to anyone else who doesn’t have an account.
You can also display a maintenance mode page when you’re tweaking the live site.
I usually disable the plugin once I’ve launched a website but I’ll reactivate it whenever I need to use maintenance mode. After launch I use a different tool for building landing pages. Depending on what I need to do, I’ll use either Thrive Architect or Leadpages.
Features:
- Various access controls.
- Allows client access via a special link.
- Maintenance mode.
- Basic customization options.
- Advanced customization via CSS.
- Use your coming soon page as a dedicated landing page.
- Integrates with most popular email providers.
- You can save opt-ins to your database and export if you don’t want to integrate an email provider.
- Use it to run a viral contest from your coming soon page.
Price: Starts from $29.

If I had to choose just one landing page plugin for WordPress…
Balancing value, features, ease-of-use, speed and available templates, my top pick is Thrive Architect.
Hands down. And there’s another good reason why:
It’s not just a landing page plugin. It handles drag & drop custom page layouts too. A lot of bloggers now use this plugin on blog posts and pages to create incredibly engaging content.
And it’s designed to work in harmony with Thrive Leads – the best list building plugin for WordPress.
But, the best landing page plugin depends on what you need…
It’s true. The best plugin depends on your exact circumstances.
Below are a number of scenarios
Want value for money? Try this:
Thrive Architect comes in at $67 for lifetime updates and 12 months support. Most premium plugin providers charge yearly for updates, this plugin is different.
It’s packed with features and gives you plenty of landing page templates.
But, Thrive Themes have a membership offering that gives you access to:
- Thrive Leads – opt-in forms
- Thrive Headline Optimizer – headline split tests
- Thrive Ultimatum – scarcity/calls to action
- A bunch of conversion focused WordPress themes
Pricing starts at $19/month (paid annually) and includes access to any new products they launch.
You want the simplest possible solution for creating landing pages…
When it comes to keeping things simple, Leadpages is a strong contender because of it’s clean user interface and overall straight-forward layout.
Sure, there will always be a learning curve to get to grips with, but Leadpages is definitely one of the more straight forward.
And everything is managed from a single platform, so editing landing pages and running split tests is easier across multiple domains. That said, it gets harder to manage if you have a huge number of landing pages.
You want a landing page builder with a/b split testing built-in…
Leadpages comes with split testing on Pro or Advanced plans. And because everything is contained within a single platform, it makes setting up split tests easy.
Or you can use a third party tool like Google Optimize (free) or Visual Website Optimizer (paid) along with any of the other plugins such as Thrive Architect, OptimizePress or Beaver Builder.
Want to build custom page layouts as well as landing pages?
Beaver Builder is built primarily as a page builder plugin, so this is where it excels. It’s got plenty of different elements you can add to your pages, and has some advanced features that aren’t seen in other plugins (such as hiding/showing elements based on which devices people use).
I like how the Beaver Builder editor is put together – it’s straight forward and doesn’t hang. It feels lightweight.
Thrive Architect is also built primarily as a page builder plugin. The editor itself feels very refined and it’s fast to work with.
The other benefit Thrive Architect has over Beaver Builder is mainly in having the ability to create true distraction-free landing pages out of the box. That, and you get a huge range of landing page templates that don’t just work for home-pages.
You get webinar pages, squeeze pages, sales pages, download pages, course pages and more.
Want to deploy landing pages without having your own website or on sites that don’t use WordPress?
Leadpages is a landing page platform, so this is what it’s built for.
You can use the accompanying WordPress plugin if you like, or you can:
- Host via a Leadpages URL
- Download a static HTML file
- Download a HTML file that updates as you edit in Leadpages
Other features such as Leadboxes, Leaddigits and Leadlinks don’t require anything to be installed on your website – they’ll work wherever you like.
For example, you could write a guest post for another website, and include the code for a Leadbox in the HTML (providing the blog owner approves) and generate subscribers direct from your guest post.
Another thing worth noting is that while the WordPress plugin can be installed on your site, it acts more like a link from your site to Leadpages. So even though you’ll have landing pages load from URL’s on your site, they’ll still be loading from Leadpages servers.
Want to setup a coming soon page for your website? Try one of these:
Coming Soon Pro is purpose built to create coming soon pages.
While you could use any other plugin mentioned in this post to create these sorts of pages, they don’t have the same functionality as Coming Soon Pro.
The main reason why I use this plugin for coming soon pages is because it stops people from accessing other areas of your website.
But, you can generate a special URL to let other people (clients for example) view the website.
On the downside, customization options are VERY basic, but still, it’s a very useful plugin.
Conclusion
You don’t have to be a web designer – not even close!
Plus, you don’t have to put up with the old style plugins that were sluggish and overly complicated. And those that were packed full of cheesey templates that looked like what guru marketers were using in 2006.
Times have changed. The market has evolved massively.
Using the landing page plugins above, you can put an immense amount of power at your finger tips. All the features you’ll need to create beautiful landing pages that convert.
Whether you want to create a squeeze page to build your email list, create high converting sales pages, setup webinar pages or more – you can do it.
…all without the hassle.
This means you can focus on crafting products and offers, creating compelling content and moving the needle on your business.
So what are you waiting for? Pick a landing page plugin and start creating.
