Albania opposition holds anti-government protest

TIRANA, Albania – Albania’s opposition is keeping an anti-government protest accusing the cupboard of one-way links to arranged crime and contacting for its resignation.

Thousands of supporters on the center-right Democratic Social gathering, its ally, the left-wing Socialist Movement for Integration, and other scaled-down parties gathered Saturday at Tirana’s main Boulevard Martyrs in the Country to protest towards the federal government.

Police security was tight near the key government workplaces wherever the rally is held.

The protest is taken into account a check of guidance for the principal opposition Democrats, who endured a landslide loss in final year’s vote, securing only 43 seats during the 140-seat parliament.

Albania, a NATO member since 2009, was granted EU applicant status in 2014 and hopes to start negotiations this yr.
