Zimbabwe seizes $500,000 worth of ivory on way to Malaysia


HARARE, Zimbabwe – Zimbabwe’s parks agency states it’s seized 200 kilograms (440 lbs .) of ivory destined for Malaysia.

Countrywide Parks and Wildlife Management Authority spokesman Tinashe Farawo on Wednesday claimed the ivory was really worth more than $500,000.

Farawo states no-one continues to be arrested yet and police questioned officials from a journey company prior to releasing them.

Poaching is rife in Zimbabwe’s national parks, which teem with elephants as well as other big game.

The agency says near to 900 elephants are actually poached given that 2013. The southern African country is believed to possess a lot more than 84,000 elephants.
